Ours is October 15th at the Barcelo Punta Cana! I wish it was next month--even though I only have the location, wedding colors and photographer picked out! Can't wait!

Hi ladies,

I'm getting married in September/October 2011 in Punta Cana! We haven't picked the exact week yet but we're working on it... I hope it's not too late to book.

Any tips that you have on how to pick and info about what's available or not available would be helpful;;;I haven't been to any resorts in Punta Cana; it's hard to pick one. How did you pick? Please pass along any recommendations!

Hi!

I would say that you and FI should have a list of "must haves"...like for example, if you are looking for adults only, kids clubs, more then one pool etc...if none of that matters then i would say its a good thing to start by your budget and then see a TA and have them propose some options.

 

FI and I have been to Paradisus Punta Cana. we went a few years ago and fell in love with the resort. Everything about it was breathtaking and fantastic! we didnt want to come home! we travelled again after that and none of the resorts compared so it was an easy decision picking the resort for us. You should check it out. its really beautiful

Great - thanks! A family friend works for sunwing and set me up with the vacation packages coordinator...she's getting back to me this week after she puts together a sort of custom package with all the preferences that we want. I'll see what she suggests...I guess the benefit is that she has been to most, of not all, these resorts and has seen weddings or company functions at all of them. 

I really like the Dreams and the Majestic....we'll see how they compare. I'll ask her about the Paradisus.

What are you all doing about photography and music?

I was maid of honour for my friend last January. She got married at the Majestic Elegance...in my opinion, for what you pay, the resort really isnt that special. The Dreams looks realy nice though but i have never been so i cant comment directly.

One of my friends boyfriends is a photographer so i am paying for his trip and he is doing all of my photography.

I have no idea about music yet...the resort prices dont add up and i am waiting for my WC to get back to me about this...i will keep you posted
