DW locations where Guest Flight/Hotel Costs aren't as high?

We really are interested in Cabo BUT the cost to guests (airfare/hotel flying from BWI, Charlotte, Rochester NY) is over 2K which is too high.

Can anyone recommend any other locations where the cost for hotel/airfare may not be as high when looking at guest costs.

We are not looking to plan the wedding around guests but still want to have it where the costs is not too expensive.

thank you!

Hello!

I saw your post on the Cabo wedding forum about the cost for guests. Perhaps it's because your wedding takes place during the "high" season? I think March is still considered high season; the closer to summer it gets, the lower the hotel prices there in Cabo should be since the weather gets quite hot. So that might be part of the reason why it's so expensive.

It looks like your guests are flying from the East Coast so if you want to look at other locations you might want to consider somewhere in the Caribbean -- like Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica. Maybe they'll have better packages since they're closer. I considered Puerto Rico prior to selecting Cabo as my DW site.

If you still would like to do Cabo, you might want to consider moving your wedding date to a time where it's more reasonable. I am doing a non-AI resort wedding so it's a bit anxiety-provoking at times but it's definitely cutting costs for both myself and my guests. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see if I can be of more help to you!

Good luck!

I am from Raleigh, NC and a local travel agent said that the cheapest flights were 1) Bahamas then 2) Cancun (servicing Cancun and the Riviera Maya).  Based on that info I focused my location on Cancun/Riviera Maya.  I am guessing that might be true for a lot of other East Coast cities.  For an early November wedding my guests are looking at ~$1000/pp flying from Raleigh for a 5 night stay at all-inclusive Dreams Cancun.  Costs for guests was certainly a consideration for me - I know when I go on vacation I am looking for a good deal so I couldn't ask them to do anything less just becasue it will be my wedding.

Once I selected Cancun/Riviera Maya, I did an Expedia search for the time near my wedding (I actually did it for Nov 2010 bc I was looking back in June 2010) and narrowed down the resorts based on cost (I would suggest determining a flight + hotel max and only consider resorts below that max).  From there I started looking at the ceremony and reception packages, locations, etc....

Definitely not trying to suggest one area over another - but I think the same process could work for you.  Check out the lowest flight prices from your main airports and then use expedia to find out the most reasonably priced resorts in that location.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
