Opinions needed!! Pretty please :O)

Hello  Brides and Brides to be...

I am in need of some guidance from some of you who have some knowledge of this particular issue I am having...

Possible (hopeful) wedding location Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Having guests come to Sandals St. Lucia for my wedding in (hopefully November 2011)...I have learned they only have king beds. Some of my friends and  his friends are single and I suppose would have to shack up with someone they may or may not know. I haven't told anyone yet as we are deciding between St Lucia and Cuba...but I was wondering what everyone else has done in this situation.

Many thanks for your opinions and advice ^_^

Cari

This is the exact reason why I didnt choose a sandals, also they say that if you have someone stay alone in the room they are still paying the rate as if two people were in the room.  So I would def try to put two people to a room, how many singles do you have?

Thanks for your response...it is much appreciated :) I think I will have about 4-5 singles...I see your getting married really soon in Turks and Caicos...Congrats!!  There's another dream spot!! I looked into Beaches Turks & Caicos...it is double the price than Sandals Grande St. Lucian...which is sad to say why I am leaning to Sandals over Beaches...but maybe I should re-evaluate my idea...lol!!

Hi and welcome!  I am getting married at Sandals Grande St. Lucian in July.  We have several guests sharing rooms, and it has not really been a problem.  I wouldn't worry about that aspect...

If price is a factor though, you may want to look elsewhere.  Many of my guests thought they would be able to go, but when the actual cost was figured, they couldn't afford it.  I like Sandals in St. Lucia, because you can choose between the three resorts, but most wanted to stay where the wedding would take place, and that is the most expensive resort.  The flights are also very expensive compared to other islands.  I don't know though... if you're looking at November, the prices might be cheaper because of hurricane season.

All that said, I am really looking forward to my wedding, and I know St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful and adventurous islands...it will be perfect. I just wish I could have more guests come with me!  My awesome TA did offer me a piece of advice when I was planning....she said often she has brides plan for huge destination weddings, and then they are disappointed when not many guests can come.  She said to plan the wedding as if the bride and groom might be the only ones there....so that's what we did!  Good luck!

Hey Everyone!

I'm new to the forums and am in the process of planning a Sandals / Beaches wedding. We have started working with a travel agent and the more locations I look at the more confused I get. Originally we were planning to get married at Sandals but now that there are a few children on our invite list it looks likes it's going to be Beaches. We have been looking at Beaches Negril and Beaches Turks & Caicos. They both look beautiful, and although I love traveling, I haven't been to Jamaica or Turks & Caicos!

We are looking at April 2012 and having 40 - 50 guests.  Ideally we would like to have a cocktail reception and private dinner. I really love the look of the Island Paradise theme but haven't dug too much into the details. In terms of the ceremony, I would love to have it right on the beach (somewhat secluded if possible). Do these resorts have private beaches? or do they border on other resorts? Do the water parks take away from the overall atmosphere? Romantic atmosphere that is :)

If you have recently had a wedding at either of these resorts I would love (and appreciate) your advice! We are also open to other Beaches properties at this point.

Thanks so much in advance!!!

Steph

My TA has been to all of these.  Turks & Caicos is of course beautiful (& pricier).  Not sure what your budget is - the add-ons certainly add-UP.  I have booked Beaches Sandy Bay in Negril because it is smaller and less catering to "children" (no water park).  It is of course not as fancily decorated as Beaches Negril but it is a little cheaper, smaller and more intimate.  I have pics from my TA of both - PM me your email address if your interested in seeing these.

Families can stay at either of these Beaches resorts and can take the free Beaches shuttle every 1/2 hour between the two resorts (=more restaurant, bar & entertainment options).

Don't forget to have your TA set up a registration for your "weddingmoon" so that people can buy you add-ons if you dont need the typical wedding registration/items.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
