Riu Montego Bay Wedding

Hello All!

My fiance and I are planning a June 2012 wedding at Riu in MoBay, and I had a couple of questions for any other brides who have had or are having their wedding there.

1. Is it extra to do the beach reception as opposed to a reception in the restaurant?

2. We were thinking about just hooking up an ipod in lieu of having an actual DJ. Did anyone else do this? How did it work? Did you find that you missed having a DJ?

3. Did you have an issue with bringing in outside photographers?

4. Has anyone worked with Alain Hottat?

Thank you!!!! We are in the beginning stages of our planning, so I'd appreciate any feedback. This forum is awesome though, so a big "Thank you!" to whoever started it. woot.gif

Hey!  I am also getting married at RMB June 2012.  You may have already found these answers but I am pretty sure there is a fee for the beach reception.  We are planning on renting the disco for two hours and that includes a dj.  We are having the free reception in the restaurant and then going to the disco.  This will save us some on the reception but still give us some private time with our guests.

You may have noticed there seems to be few Riu Montego Bay brides on here.  Most are other resorts.  Hope this helps!

What is your date?  We are June 9th.

We, are getting married on May 24, 2012 @RMB and I am excited.

I am planning on getting a private reception rental for 1000.00us and the DJ will cost 300.00us for @hrs and I will play my ipod/iphone for the other times.  I am unsure of how much an Isle runner will cost, so I have contacted the wedding to see about the fee for this.

What are you doing for photos and video?

Make-up?

Hair?

Let me know

This isn't a great thread for answers. Click the link below to go to a much more informative thread about Riu-Montego Bay. We had our wedding there June 23, 2012, and it was awesome. Several girls have posted their reviews on the following thread which are super helpful. Good luck! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
