November 2011 Brides!!! All Destinations

Hi ladies!

I just needed to vent...it is SO difficult to make travel decisions, especially when booking group travel. I won't get into all the details-but I'm really frustrated that guests are telling me they are going to be all going different dates and not our suggested travel dates. I feel that I have put so much work into getting a group rate-and it is a really good rate!!! Some of them think that they can find cheaper deals, but I'm pretty sure they won't! Anyways, it is making this difficult for me because at this point-I'm worried about getting the minimum needed to secure the group pricing! Is anyone else going through the same problem?

Does anyone feel that June 30th is too soon for an RSVP date? I've noticed other brides have later RSVP dates so I am worried that mine is unrealistic!  My deadline is for paying the deposit only, so people don't have to book in full until 2months before.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent! I needed it tonight! Plus my glass of wine is helping :)

JenK - Sounds very frustrating. :(

I don't know if you've already shared this with your guests but....

I think it's totally appropriate to remind your guests that the travel agent knows what rates are on the internet as well (and the trends for airfare) and is getting everyone a competitive (and cheap!) rate so that it saves them the trouble of searching and comparing. And remind them that it's only a deposit that is required by June 30th so it's like they can pay their travel in installments rather than all at once (which I think is a great advantage over purchasing on their own via websites!). And if they're going to be there anyway, maybe you can say something like it'll really help matters all around if everyone just travels during the suggested dates because you'll lock in the group-rate and be guaranteed that even if the prices might go up later.

If it's only a deposit deadline, I don't think it's too early, although I can understand people's hesitation. My RSVP date is September 1st but that's because I am not dealing with group travel arrangements. I figured I didn't need the extra stress.

I hope people come around soon. Hang in there!

Hi there, Joanne!

Thanks! I absolutely adore my shoes! They're Badgley Mischka. I am in love with BM's shoes for evening and formal events. Very cute. Annnnd, while they're usually like 200 ish, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for sales! I buy my shoes in a hurry because I have small feet (never have many shoes in my size), but if you can wait, then they'll be on sale soon, I'd imagine.

Happy shopping!! :)

cool. another thread! we're getting married 17.11.2011 at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica. we're in good shape I think.

venue is booked. we have our travel quote. ready for peeps to start booking. ours will be quite small - probably no more than 16. STDs went out 6 weeks ago when we confirmed date and time with the resort. wedding dress is ordered. so is MOH dress. FG dress is picked out and will be ordered in a couple of weeks. I have hairband and flip flops. we have a photographer in Jamaica booked and have the catalogue from the florist in Jamaica to pick out what we need. almost decided what they will be.  invitations have been designed and are being done by a family member. OOT bags have been started but the actual bag design is still to be finalized. trying to decide between a couple of different designs. our reception restaurant is booked. we've decided on cake design. still finalizing dinner menu.  still figuring out first dance location too. I think that's it.

now we just wait for time to go by.....

Have all you girls made your travel plans already?

The airlines are only releasing lay-over flights now and we still have to wait another 3-4 weeks to get prices and options on direct flights ..... it's doing my head in!! I want this booked and sorted!!

I felt like I had nothing done for November, then I went on a roll and did the Save The Dates, Bridesmaids Dress, Flower Girl Dress, booked wedding, and narrowed down bridal gown and grom's suit and all of a sudden we are stopped again (i guess every day life takes over!!).

How are you all coping and how much have you done? I feel like I am so so so so far behind sad.gif

my entire family is in Ireland and I am in the US at the moment and I feel so disconnected with no help.

Joanne-I am based in Canada so it might be different for me. Booking travel has been a difficult process for me (mainly to try and find a good deal), but we have just signed our group contract and people are giving deposits. Direct flights have been released here, but there may be more that are going to be released! What departure cities/airlines are just about to release pricing. I'm curious because I have some family in the US that will be coming, so maybe I will tell them to wait!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
