November 2011 Brides!!! All Destinations

Laides - it seems as if there are a couple of November 2011 threads but they are specific to certain destinations (like Riviera Maya or Cabo).  I think it would be great to have a thread for ALL November 2011 brides because a lot of our planning has nothing to do with our location.  I envision us offering support to each other as our wedding days approach as well as offering advice on where to buy all of those wedding necessities.

As of today I have 9 months and 1 day!  I am a November 5th bride at Dreams Cancun.

Hi there! I am a November 10 bride, getting married at the Riu Palace at Cabo San Lucas! Thanks for starting this thread, it will be a great support! We didn't choose our location and resort until January, so this last month has been a whirlwind! So far I have booked the wedding date, reception location, sent out save the dates, booked a photographer and I think I have chosen my wedding dress-I will decide next week! How is everyone else going in the planning process?

Hi ladies!

I am getting married November 11 in Playa del Carmen.  The past couple weeks things have really started coming together; we have booked a planner, videographer, photographer, and tentatively booked a venue.  We are going down this weekend for a site visit and will put our deposit down as long as we are OK with the venue location!

This past weekend I bought a dress as well- I had a trip to NYC planned for later in the month, but found something I love here (D.C.) so pulled an audible and scrapped the NYC plans!

Our wedding website is up and I have designed the STDs.  Once we get back from our site visit we will get them printed and sent out. I am also doing a hair trial and tasting while we are down there this weekend.  I think the planner and I may visit some florists and gift shops as well to see what I can get down there for the OOT bags.

November seems like an eternity away and I can't wait!

How big are your weddings going to be?  One of the issues I am having is that we *wanted* a small wedding, but due to the size of both of our families, it isn't shaping out to be so small...

I thought about doing a site visit for my resort - but figured I would rather save that money and spend it on the wedding itself.  I wish I could have the money to have done both!

We sent out our STD's including wedding website back in December (to give everyone as much notice as possible) and I am planning to send out invitations late April.  I did engagement pictures last November as a trial for a local photographer that we will take with us to Mexico.  A link to those pictures in my profile is at the bottom of my messages.  The dress was bought last year and is currently at my parents' house - I go and visit my dress about once a month embarrest.gif

I currently have no idea what size my wedding will be.  it could be from 15 (immediate family only) to ~30 (immediate family + friends) to ~60 (immediate family, extended family, and friends).  We do not want the hassle and expense of 60 ppl at the wedding.  How can you enjoy your vacation if you have to spend time with 60 ppl?!  It is sad, but 2 different aunt/uncle sets responded in their Christmas cards that they would not be able to make it and my fiance & I high-fived at the news.

I just finished my STD as well and just waiting for them! I ordered boarding pass STDs (I felt that I had too much to do to make it a DIY project!). I was thinking of sending the formal invites out in April or May, so it is nice to hear that is what others are doing! Wow, both of you sound so organized!!!!

I got engaged last June, so it isn't that I am organized....I have just had a lot of time.  We probably would have chosen Sept or Oct 2011, but I wanted to wait until November to decrease the chances of hurricanes....

I really really want to plan more, but that is tough to do until you have a good idea of how many people are coming.  So instead I am focusing a bit more on our At Home Party - we booked the DJ a couple of weekends ago and a little later this week we are meeting with the "caterer" to taste cupcakes and go over the trays of food they offer.  I am a planner so I need to plan something!

Hello girls! We are getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace in the Riviera Maya on November 17th, just got the date confirmed, so pretty much have nothing done! Am starting to panic reading updates that you have dresses and invites already!

I have my website almost completed, and I am doing STD postcards which I can order now that we confirmed the date.

Like another bride here we were originally planning for September but decided adding the stress of prime hurricane season just wasn't worth it, plus November will be a great time to get away to the sun!

I agree-I picked November because I am hoping to avoid any chances of a hurricane!

Joanne-No need to panic! I just chose the location and resort in early January, it is amazing what you can do in a month! Sounds like you are on track with the STDs and venue! Here in Canada, they tell us to order a wedding dress a minimum of 8 months before, I'm not sure if it is like that in Ireland! Also, if you are wanting a local photographer, I would also start looking into that as well!

Joanne -  I bought my dress WAAAAY too early.  I got engaged in June and was forced to be off of work during the whole July 4th holiday week (my company does maintenance then).  I figured that while I was off of work I might as well look - and I figured that a weekday would be less stressful than a weekend.  I didn't intend on buying anything at that time, but I found a dress I lvoed and it was onsale (15% off) and I knew I would kick myself if I bought the same dress for more money later.  My dress only took 12 weeks to come in.  Here is my dress, Allure 8705 (I will likely make the neckline a sweetheart).

I would say to send out your save the dates whenever you get them in, but it might be a good idea to verbally communicate your date and location to those guests most important to you in the mean time.  And I don't have my invites yet (they will be a DIY project), but I pretty much have them designed.

I would agree that you need to go ahead and decide what you will do for a photographer.  My resort uses a great photographer and he would be available through the resort.  But if you are looking to hire an outside photogrpaher, then you should start looking.  However, I noticed that your wedding date is a Thursday - so that will help out a lot with availability.

Best of luck and keep us informed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
