Azul Beach Hotel - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey melissa,

Thanks for the information!  how did you decorate for the reception?  was their enough lighting?  Did they allow DJ Doremixx to do the cold fireworks?  Also, did you do a morning after brunch?

Thanks for all of your help!  Its hard to find AB brides!

There is the Aquanox Bar (outside by the main pool) that is open until 11 p.m. and the Tequila Lounge (inside and air conditioned) open from 5 p.m. - 1 a.m. We only had a Welcome Dinner on the beach and then our wedding reception and we wanted to meet up with our guests every night too...We made a schedule of events and every night that we did not have something planned we put "Meet us for drinks after dinner at the Aquanox Bar and then the Tequila Lounge."  But you really don't have to do this because the resort is so small and everyone was at the Aquanox bar before and after dinner and then the Tequila lounge after the Aquanox closes. A couple of the nights (including the wedding night after the reception) our group were the only ones in the Tequila Lounge and we had the place all to ourselves! It was like a private event for free! It so easy to hang out with your guests because you run into them everywhere you go which is so nice! The resort was fully booked and it didn't seem crowded at all which was great!

How many guests are you having?  Also, its so easy to get tables for a big group for dinner at the restaurants...they are so accommodating! The first night they put a table of 20 together for us!

Also, thank you for the comment on my photos! Who is your photographer?

We did a Welcome Dinner on the beach the night before the wedding. It was really nice...They only bad thing was when it got dark...The lights they provided did not light up the area very good. Kind of a bummer! We asked for more lights and it sounded like they were going to get more but they never did.  We also did a photo slide show at the Welcome Dinner. This was BBQ buffet dinner which was a private event for 4 hours but I think we only stayed on the beach for about 3 hours since it was so dark and we all went to the Aquanox bar to hang out.

I wore wedges for the ceremony and then changed into heels for the ceremony. I can post pics if you want..just let me know.

I wanted fireworks and fire dancers but they said no and I have not heard anyone that has done this.

YOU will LOVE this resort! It is AMAZING! All our guests are still raving about the resort and say they can't believe we picked such a great resort! When you think of Mexico you think of all those large resorts with 500plus rooms which are great but for a wedding a small boutique resort was the perfect choice! We want to go back for our 1 year anniversary (Even though we always choose adult only resorts when we go to Mexico.)  cheesy.gif

How many people are you having?

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Girls,

Above are my bridesmaid dresses from weddingtonway.com and my beach dress :) I have no doubt that my wedding dress will be nice and cool for the beach on Dec. 17th, but the dresses are a bit thick so maybe ill opt for the girls to wear their hair up to cut down on heat stroke :). I just couldn't pass up the great design and clean lines that will hopefully look great on the girls, as they all have different body types.

Hi Kerry!

You are welcome! Feel free to ask me as many questions as you want.  We had our reception at the Blue Terrace and we brought chair bows, table overlays, table runners and we had roses as our centerpieces. The lighting was pretty good and the DJ brought lights too so there was a spotlight type light on us for our first dance, cake cutting, garder/bouquet toss, etc...I can send you pics if you want...Just let me know...What are your colors?  Are you having your reception at the Blue Terrace?

They did not allow cold fireworks. We used the 25 person reservation as a bridal brunch the day before the wedding.

Do you have a photographer picked out yet?  Have you checked out the Azul Sensatori thread? There are some AB brides on that thread.

Thanks, Melissa!  So helpful to hear first-hand what things are like.  My FI is worried that the bars close at 1 am...apparently he has big plans to carry on the party into the night.  Is that even possible?  Do the public places pretty much close up at a certain time and, if so, is beverage service available in rooms after hours?  (it's a party weekend, right?!)

We actually don't have a photographer.  We are really trying to save money and, although I know everyone says the photographer is not the place to scimp, we just couldn't justify the expense of hiring an outside vendor or flying someone in, so we opted to have a family member with a really nice camera and some amateur photography training take some formal shots.  Then we'll just ask everyone to post their photos to Flikr or something afterwards.

We're having 40 guests-- glad to hear it's possible to do larger groups for meals!

One more question: is there a dress code for restaurants and how strictly is it enforced?

Thanks, again, for the information!

Did everyone pick a package? Right now we have the Pearl package but I'm interested to see if we just pay for everything separately instead of getting the package if it's a better discount...

Do you really need dinner reservations? We want our reception at the Blue Terrace Open Air Patio, private event so we wont need the reservations. I dont think embarrest.gif

Hi Ladies :) So just submitted our request for March 9th, 2012.  The Azul website is a little confusing so I love reading any new info you guys find.  When it comes to picking out your flowers and cake did they give you a choice of pictures to choose from?

Hi Emma,

If you google lomas travel, you can get to their weddings section and look at the planning and ideas, should give you most of what you are looking for!  This is where you choose everything, although if you have pics in mind, your wedding coordinator can price everything out for you!  Good luck and congrats!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
