I've heard that taking probiotics helps.  I took them 1-2 times per day for the days leading up to the wedding, and then also took them sporadically with meals in Punta Cana.  Maybe this helped me, but hard to say since I still got sick at the second resort.

Out of 29 guests, there were 3 who got sick during the week.  This usually lasted for 1 day and then they were fine.  I found the food to be really good at the Majestic and enjoyed it immensely.

After our wedding week, my hubby and I moved to the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our honeymoon.  This is the #1 hotel in Punta Cana on Tripadvisor, and let me tell you, the food was FANTASTIC!  Lobster, steak, escargot.... their restaurants were super fancy and the food was amazing.  But don'tcha know it... I spent all of Wednesday in my room with vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and the whole bit.   By Thursday I was back on the beach.

I've been to Cuba 3 times and never got sick before.  I guess it's just bound to happen eventually when you travel to foreign countries, and it had nothing to do with the Majestic, in my case.  Just pack your meds and be prepared!

I know!  I went to a destination wedding in Mexico and some people did get "sick" but nothing that we couldn't joke about----Plus immodium works wonders!  As long as it's not vomiting and food poisoning right?  Although it does seem like some people have gotten that.

But you're right---I dont want to be blamed either, especially since it's not cheap to go!  I'll feel real bad that most people are forking out 3k for a week and end up sitting on the john the whole time.

I was talking to one of my friends today, and her theory is that it's the water.  Maybe those guests who got sick swallowed some in the shower, or while brushing their teeth, or something.  Because if it was food poisoning, or an outbreak of salmonella or something, wouldn't more of us have been sick?   It's just weird...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
