I am not staying at Majestic Elegance...but I just read a bad review about the resort I chose. Coral Cove in Jamaica. It is really kinda stressing me out too. The reviewer complained about the beds, food, etc. I am thinking about emailing the WC there myself and just ask her about her take. They do say- there is always two sides to every story. And some travelers are just impossible to please! ( like my mom) :)

i feel bad for those people who write "bad reviews" on great places, just cause they are the type of people that will never be pleased...ill never forget someone actually complained once about getting hit with a sprinkler...its like you are in the caribbean in 90 degree weather! who cares!! LOL

Don't worry ladies!  You'll all have a great time.  Things can go wrong at any resort in any country.  You're flowers will look great (I didn't read the post), but honestly, no worries.  Check out Majestic Colonial Brides on Facebook.  The Colonial and Elegance are essentially the same thing.  You all will love it :)  Very luxurious!

My husband and I got married at the Elegance on January 14th. We only had 8 people come with us so we didnt feel the need to go all out with special requests. We got the base package, had our dinner at the steakhouse, used the hotels photographer and the brightlights videographer. No extras. Simple. Quick. Perfect.

We dont have any complaints. The flowers that I chose were white. They werent wilted at all. My sister did my hair and took a flower out of the bouquet. That one was wilted by the end of the night but it was very hot that day.

As for the hotel. Perfect. We want to go back for our first anniversary. We went to the Mayan Riviera a couple years ago and this hotel far exceeded my expectations. We ate at the buffet every morning for breakfast and lunch. The food was really good. I was always full after eating (unlike Mexico, just kinda picked at what looked edible.) The steakhouse was really good. We went there three times. So was 9 doors, just awkward sitting at a table where you dont know anyone ( we arent the type to start a conversation, very reserved ) We upgraded to the Elegance Club, I would do it again in a heart beat. The view of the ocean we got was worth the upgrade in itself. We didnt use the butler but everything else was amazing.

All in all, I wouldnt worry one bit. There is always someone who finds the trip unpleasant. Even in our group. My sister and brother in law are more into the party scene then us so I dont think they enjoyed it as much as its not too much of a party hotel. My mom has a hard time with the heat so she didnt enjoy it as much as she would have liked. But everyone else seemed to enjoyed themselves.

It is by far the nicest, cleanest hotel we have ever been too.

The new review seems like she had problems with the resort and not the wedding itself.  Don't worry ladies!  Some people cannot be pleased.  This is the first review I've seen with complaints about power outages, so I'm sure this doesn't happen often and honestly this could happen at the nicest hotel in the world.  I've actually read a TON of reviews regarding how awesome the beds are, so....   And finally the food.  Well i have read a lot of things about the resort not having great food...  This isn't America/Canada/ect so their standards are not what we are use to and I'm not expecting a fabulous food experience because of this but that isn't going to ruin my trip.  If you read the reviews from all the AI in the DR, every single one has complaints about the food, so I wouldn't let that sway anyones decision when choosing a resort.  I'm keeping my hopes up (hopefully that doesn't lead to heart break on our wedding day, lol).  There are a LOT more excellent reviews about the ME than there are bad ones.  Glitches and hiccups happen at every resort, so I'm preparing myself to roll with the punches.   :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
