Unique Shower Ideas?!?

Recommended Posts

I love love love wrapping gifts and doing funky techniques with paper and ribbon, I'd be really sad if I couldn't do something super fun for a good friend or family member.

I'm not big on the "OMG its MY day and forget everyone else's feelings" stuff, but seriously, it is about you at least a little bit LOL especially at the bridal shower. If you want a dry shower, do it! If you want a signature cocktail, do it! If you want wrapped presents, do it (I would). No need to justify your choices if your gracious and grateful to your guests! Which you sound like you are, you seem very normal, I didn't mean to insinuate otherwise LOL

Good luck!!

I agree with most everyone on here.  I would be very offended if someone told me how to wrap the gift i bought them!  Usually at baby or bridal showers I've been to, people play the bingo game during gift unwrapping.  When guests arrive they get a blank bingo card and fill in the blanks with gifts they anticipate the bride will get (tuperware, utensils, blender, ect).  Then as you open your gifts people can check off the gifts they got right, until someone gets bingo!  I like this idea, because not only does it give guests something to do, they have to pay attention to you opening your gifts!!!  I'm sure there are other games/ideas out there, but honestly opening gifts is an expected part of showers.

Thanks girls!  I agree!! I bought this up to a co-worker too and she couldn't believe it! haha.  She said she had been to one shower like that and it was a baby shower where the girl was about to pop LOL.  I'm definitely going to do the norm, and maybe we'll do bingo or something.  I'm really not going to worry about anything too much and just let my mom and MOH decide whatever/wherever!

  • 3 weeks later...

When my best friend got married her family shower had almost 150 people attend so the bridesmaids unwrapped the gifts and displayed them on the table. I had never heard of anything like that but it actually worked very well and given how many people attended it would have been hours to unwrap them all!

I've never even heard of that! Interesting concept, but I agree, kind of rude.

I have been to a few showers were the bride (or new mom) opened the gifts while the guests were playing games, etc. That way they guests weren't so "bored" and the bride doesn't usually play the games anyway.

Maybe that's a possibility for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
