Hey, I picked the cheapest dinner option - it was called the Montego Bay a la carte dinner ($30 per person)....and it was really good! all the food at the resort was good, no one had any complaints. and my wedding dinner was the best night food wise!  I was a bit worried and wondered if I should have gone with one of the more expensive ones, but i was 100% happy with the dinner!

The place we had the reception was at the Beach Inn.  Natalie the wedding coordinator told me they always do their private receptions there.  It was right outside from where the Italian restaurant was.  And it really was a beautiful area. i was so happy with it!

As for the chair ties, i got them off of cvlinens.com   I got the organza purple sashes, they have lots other kinds as well.  I just checked and the ones I got are now 59 cents each! I can't remember what I actually paid, but i had thought they were more!

and no problem about the questions - ask more anytime, i am happy to help and i love talking about my wedding!!!

Hi, I meant for the ceremony only.  They did not play the traditional bride song.  They played Marry Me by Train.  Its a great song and i know a lot of brides use it, but i seriously heard it everyday!!!! I honestly cannot remember what other music they had.  Although, maybe i am exaggerating.  I had a friend who also got married the same week as me, she did not want the Train song, so the WC gave her some other choices.  So it could be that I heard the Marry Me song everyday that week because every bride was choosing it?

For my wedding, I wanted to personalize the ceremony as much as possible, so i had asked how many songs can i or do i need to pick for the ceremony.  Natalie, the wedding coordinator, told me to pick one for the BMs walking, one for me walking, one for signing the papers, and one for the recessional. So four total.  So I did.  Within those four, I thought it was cool to pick 2 Bob marley songs!  But of being in Jamaica all week, you will also get sick of hearing Bob Marley, so it seemed a little less original after the fact, but i loved it anyway!  I was very happy with my BM song choice - Kokomo by the Beach Boys!  For my walk, i stepped away from the beach/Jamaica theme and chose Shania Twain "From this moment". it was all perfect!!  oh for the ceremony, she also had me pick several songs to play before the ceremony started.  They DO have music for all this though, so maybe you could ask her what they have. I didn't think to ask that, i just wanted to come up with everything on my own!

For reception music, it depends what you do. I did a private dinner, where i had only brought a CD with our first dance song.  Since she then had the CD player out, I put in my best of bob marley CD since thats all I had with me!  But before i went, she had told me they dont play music during dinner....After dinner, I did a bonfire on the beach and had a DJ, so there was obviously lots of music then and you could make requests ahead of time.  All the reception stuff i did cost extra of course.

Hi Unicorn, I hope all is well. You looked beautiful on your wedding day, I'm not sure if you recieved my previous messaged I'm new to this. I probably didnt do it right.

I have a question if you dont mind , regarding your wedding at the Sunset. I'm planning to get married next year July and im on a tight budget. I was told that a destination wedding in Jamaica would be my best bet. If you dont mind can you tell me approx how much you spent for you wedding at Sunset.

Another question were you able to recieve a group discount for the hotel? How much did your guest end up spending to travel to your wedding?

Thank You

God Bless

Pls post more pics if you can :)

Hi BebeEvans,

My wedding was more expensive than most wddings at Sunset Beach because I opted to do a private dinner and private beach bonfire reception.  Altogether, I spent over $3000 on it!  That is not including travel and acccommadations....HOWEVER, I chose Sunset Beach because it is a budget resort. It was significantly cheaper than any other resort I looked into regarding the costs to stay there for a week.  When I booked, most of my guest paid approximately $812 per person for a week all inclusive and that was including air port transfers.  We booked our floghts separatey.  I therefore did not do a group package  because there were people coming in from all different places.  To do a group package, we would all have to be on the same flight and stay the same number of days, which was not the case with my guests.

Regarding wedding costs, if you and your fiance stay for seven nights you either get a free wedding package or pay $199 for staying in a standard room (the wedding package is free if you stay in an ocean front, more expensive room). Its also free if you simply have 15 rooms booked by your wedding guests, then number of nights stay is irrelevant.

I will post more soon about what is included in the free package as well as more pictures!  i gotta run now!

Ok, here is the info on the basic wedding package at Sunset Beach. this applies to Sunset Jamaica Grande and Sunset at the Palms as well.

The We Do wedding theme lets you celebrate your day with style and simplicity.  This service for four is the perfect choice for an intimate and memorable occasion.

Best of all, stay seven nights or longer* and the “We Do†Wedding Theme is FREE!

-         Picturesque wedding location

-         Personal wedding planner

-         Bridal bouquet

-         Groomâ€s boutonniere

-         Single-tiered wedding cake

-         Chilled bottle of sparkling wine

-         Recorded music

-         Marriage officer to perform the ceremony

-         Preparation of documentation

-         Certified marriage license

-         Special dinner reservations in a-la-carte restaurant for the bride and groom

-         â€œJust Married T-Shirt†wedding gift

* A minimum purchase of seven nights is required, in an ocean front category room package at Sunset Jamaica Grande, Ocho Rios or Sunset Beach Resort, Montego Bay or a suite stay at Sunset at the Palms, Negril or if there is a group of more than 15 rooms in any category.  Guests not meeting the reservation requirements still qualify for the free “We Do†wedding package, with a 7-night stay, but must pay the licensing fees of $199.00.

Price for stays of less than 7-nights is $599.

Prices do not include accommodations.

****The package description says it is for four people. not really true.  there is no limit on how many people you have at the ceremony. like they dont charge extra for chairs!  The "four" people aspect comes from how many can be served from that one bottle of champagne and one tier cake, yiu can add more of that and still get the overall free package.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
