Is Mexico Safe for a Destination Wedding?

I was in Cabo in Fenruary 2011 and we rode the local bus, visited the local shops and markets and even went out one evening. We used common sense and we were just fine, I never felt like I was in any danger. I was in the Mayan riviera this past weekend and it ws very safe there as well. we had appointments to visit a few resorts and we rented a car and drove to and from the resorts. the area was safe and there was no dangerours or concerning behavior during our stay. Our police and sfety system here in the United States can't keep drugs out of our prisons here, so I think people have a unrealstic sense of safety here in the States. We are facing the same issue with guests scared to come. I guess each person must make thier own decision and you will just have to enjoy your day without them.

I'm from Pittsburgh too! And its funny I am doing them same thing with my family and friends if you are scared stay home. Ill show you pictures. Lil

I'm not getting married in Mexico but it was one of our choices, we are getting married in jamaica and people are saying the same thing, they are going to get kidnapped/murdered/something along those lines. I think you have to have common sense when traveling anywhere, includin within the US.  I don't know where you live but I'm from Pittsburgh, which in thelast few years has been multiple times been named on forbes list as americas most livable city...well just this week on the news we had a family of three shot to death and a girl missing, which is happening in every city in America, so I don't know what it is about International travel that freaks people out, I just tell them if yo'ure scared stay home, I will send you pics, because if my wedding was happening here they wouldn't be saying anything about murder/drugs/kidnappings....sorry for the rant I just get so annoyed with that comment

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
