help needed! Ideas/suggestions/recommendations needed for a site!

Recommended Posts

I just got engaged a month ago and I am starting to look at sites in Riviera Maya to have a wedding in January 2012. I am currently in med school and have no time to plan and also a very slim window of opportunity to have a wedding. My best friend got married at Dreams Cancun and it was beautiful. She told me she got all her ideas on this site and that people were very helpful. Dreams Tulum is obv an idea but I'd like to see pics and hear from others who had had their weddings there. I want all inclusive and somewhere my guests can afford to stay that is very nice as well. Anyway, any suggestions, pictures and ideas would be more than helpful!

I am looking too!

I am VERY new to wedding planning and completely lost on this.  I have decided I am getting married the week of November 19-26 in the Mayan Riveria and thought I had a hotel picked out but, due to a terrible travel agent, I am back at square 1.  :(

I am looking at the Barcelo Tropical or the Grand Palladium.  Has anyone been there?  Any other suggestions? I am hoping for 40-60 guests, private dinner, afternoon wedding on the Thur or Fri.

Help?!?

Im right here with you! Need to decide.... But every time I read a review, I fall in love with that resort. My list of 5-6 is constantly changing!

The Palace resorts seem to have the best incentives for bride and groom.

When I think of my wedding I think of glamour.... I dont know if that is going to go well with my cheap guests.

Im looking for somewhere that is nice but affordable.

My top 5 today:

Gran Caribe Real

Cancun Palace

Barcelo Mayan Palace Deluxe

Gran Sunset Princess

NOW Jade

What is your budget for your guests? Are you talking with a travel agent yet? I have talked to a few but they want a date and a resort... and that is what I cant decide.

A few pointers that I have gotten from travel agents is

to go September - October (off season)

Moon Palace (I'm assuming along with all palace resorts) is the most $$$

That's pretty much it. Not much help so I guess I'm on my own. I just keep reading reviews and comparing complimentary packages along with bride and groom incentives.

I think I will call a few of the resorts to see what they say. I need a spread sheet to keep track of all these pro's and con's....

Just think this is only the begining!!! yikes

Hey Shay12, any luck with picking a place? I am still torn. I keep looking at all the reviews posted on here by brides and most of the places I liked based on their websites (like Moon Palace) look awfully drab in real life. My fiance likes Royal Playa del Carmen which looks nice. Well hope your hanging in there. I haven't made any progress!

Congratulations ladies!  I found the hardest part was to pick the resort :)  I ended up going with the Grand Sunset Princess.  My TA arranged a great deal for 30 people and my guests are definately working within a budget.  Everyone is so exicted and feedback on the resort pictures has been great.  Now if only October would hurry up and get here :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
