Yep, he definitely knows the price difference. My e-ring is a Platinum Tacori. I just don't have that much money ($3500 - yikes!) and got rid of my credit cards so I don't get back into a credit slump again. So, we are paying cash for the wedding (he has credit cards, but is debt free so we're trying not to use them!).

Maybe I'll have a few great sales months leading up to the wedding and will be able to afford the Platinum ... but I still think that is way overpriced for that particular ring if it is available in Platinum. Others that look more intrictae and are the same width are only about $1400.

Well, I also think you shouldn't go into debt to get it, even if it is what he wants! Having NO debt is a great way to start a marriage.

I'm not sure if they have the one you want, and I don't think they do platinum, but I just found the ring Sam wants on this website for a great price! They're from Ireland as well

An old family friend of ours owns a company in Toronto that manufacture jewellery (mostly Irish & Scottish)...

 

Anywho they have an awesome wedding band/e ring set that I wish I had known about before we got engaged...

 

The e-ring is just a solitaire (you have have it set in whatever you want, and whatever type of stone you want), but then the wedding band is a claddagh, but the solitaire sits into it.

 

My sister just bought one for herself just to wear every day she thought it was so pretty LOL

Thanks for these sites as well! I like that Claddagh ring idea. They have another similar, but not Claddagh's where the wedding band sits inside the e-ring. I really like those too, for myself.

That The Claddagh House site is great! Nice rings at good prices! I'm going to email for some Platinum prices.

Haven't posted it yet... I found that website and then he just saw something totally different that he likes, so we're going to see if he can try something similar on to see if he REALLY likes it better. I will let you guys know when we come to a decision. Getting very close though!

Ann: i LOVE Irish on Grand in St. Paul. I was just there this past weekend with my mom and sister. My sister studied in Ireland for a semester in college and wanted to get married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Cobh. The store owner's wife told us that she could look out her bedroom window and see the cathedral when she was growing up. The owner was amazing. He was showing my sister all of the rings that she could get for her fiance and explaining what the symbols and words meant. The owner and his wife were very friendly and helpful the entire time. I would say that anyone looking to purchase an Irish themed ring should definitely contact Irish on Grand.

I remembered reading this post and mentioned to the owner that his store was mentioned on this forum. He was very happy to hear that. I remembered your general story about not getting your ring and contacting Irish on Grand. He remembered your story well!
