I searched back to our original quote, the Tropical was quoted as $1410.00 + 283 taxes. Im not sure what it would be now, but about a 200 difference.

Cheers!

Hello,

I'm new here and had the same problem. In the end though it's your wedding and you do not want to have it at a cheap hotel. I think people would rather pay the extra and have a wonderful vacation rather than save a couple hundred and have bedbugs and food poisoning. I agree that listing all the goodies and everything that's included will help sway people in the right direction and if they still cannot come then that is their choice. You cannot accomodate everyone. I'd let the TA deal with it. i'm sure that as long as the majority of your guests stay at your resort it shouldnt be a problem for some to choose a different resort and get a guest pass for the wedding. Your TA would have some good suggestions for them. Im with Luxe Destination Weddings and they are great with giving you suggestions and different ways you can save. A lot of times the airline will give you 20th person free flight or something like tha,t you can always devide that among you group to give everyone a bit of a break.

Good Luck!!! :)

We chose to give our guests an estimate of the price when we sent out our STDs just so they were prepared for the cost.  We have had a few people say they won't be coming because they can not afford it but I think if you give them lots of time to save ultimately it is your wedding and the only people who need to be there are you and your FI:)

  • 1 month later...

this is all so overwhelming (I am still trying to figure out how many people will actually come) but I think that it needs to be out there- I mean people have to think of this as a vacation, they either want to make it that or not- but I think while it is not cheap- for all that they are getting, it isn't bad at all.

But I don't have it on my website, I think maybe I should now.

When we first decided to do this, we still had over a year til the wedding. So we got prices, through my travel agent, from three different vacation companies that do the cruise lines, and once I picked the ship I wanted and the dates we could do, they got us quotes. We went with the cheapest one. Now, they can't do airfare right now but my travel agent, based on similar group trips she has done in the past and it is from here to Orlando, Flordia (so a common group destination), has guesstimated how much the airfare is going to cost. We estimated on the high range. My mom also always makes sure we buy travel insurance so we even told guests an estimate on how much that would cost per person - it is kind of overwhelming but we wanted to make sure people knew how much it would cost them in total - and then they'd have a year to pay it off, which they can make payments through the travel agent.

It was kind of a pain in the butt for me when FI told his Best Man that the trip including airfare and everything would be X price for the best man and his fiancee, which did not include airfare and I kind of busted their bubble after they were psyched about going for that price by telling them wait... theres this.. and this... annnnd this... :s

So I'm putting out save the dates only cause I want to and not cause I have to, since people are pretty much booking already... but I will be sending them to people who are still on the fence and a couple of my coworkers who I would really love to come along.. and I will have a section on there with our travel agents information, and probably give a general price based on double occupancy but if you have a family coming, please contact our travel agent, etc..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
