We are planning on using La Barcaza also.

Flori told me if my cruise is at 530 they will pick us up 30 min

prior as they need 30 min to get to ME and get us back and on the boat.

She also mentioned a $100 fee for set up if I brought my own decorations.

MY WC at ME said it was fine for us to take the cake with us.

and flowers if you purchase any.

Hope that helps some.

Dreams Palm Beach has such a good "comp" wedding package (we've met the criteria) that I am simply adding to the package a bit and having a reception pool side to follow.  We are then taking all of our guests on La Barcaza the next day. Seeing as there is a hot/natural springs they stop by and awesome snorkling....I thought it best to allow my guests to enjoy those things so by going the next day they can wear more casual clothes, bring their bathing suits/towels, etc....I have been in touch with Flori and she is really easy to work with. Assuming that we will have a blast...I have already added on an extra hour !

Mslite: I have read from other brides that bringing the cake onto the boat is not a big deal and that the resort is ok with us doing that. So that's what we'll do!

I am still not sure if we're going to bring extra booze. If anything maybe a few bottles of wine but I am not too worried about having only mixed drinks if that's all we can do!

I wanted to do the seafood grill but I found out that your guests can have different packages so if some people want seafood and others don't it's ok.

So for example 18 guests can have the mixed grill and 8 guests can have seafood grill and 6 can can have the beef grill.

I am thinking of making up a menu option card and giving it to our guests at the welcome dinner. They can check off which meal they want and when we meet with Flori I can tell her exactly what everyone wants to eat for dinner!

Deb: The cruise is set for 5:30 and the pick up is set for 15 minutes prior.

Since the ceremony is quite early, there will be plenty of time for photos, I'm sure.

Does the wind make it less enjoyable?  Is it that bad?  Do you think it could have been the time of year?  I've never been to the DR.

I think that we will be going with Majestic for our stay and ceremony.  I am very interested in La Barcaza for our reception but don't know if I feel completely comfortable making the decision.

I read on one person's thread that they had a problem with Flori taking their bouquet...Anyone else have issues?

We have La Barcaza reserved for a post-wedding party a couple days after our wedding. I am kinda concerned about the open bar situation. It looks like there is just beer and rum and you have to pay extra for anything else? Has anyone else noticed this? I am thinking about bringing other options on board for our guests who would like to drink something other then beer and rum. Has anyone else done this? I know Flori said it was ok to do, I am just wondering if it will be necessary and if they are actually strict to the beer and rum only.

Hello ladies! Can anyone tell me their current pricing per person please. I know it all depends on the food choice, but I'd like to know approximately. Our wedding is booked at NOW Larimar, but we're considering La Barcaza for the rehearsal dinner or after the wedding party.

Thank you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
