april/may 2012 punta cana brides - anyone?

$1000 for an outside photographer!!! that is RIDICULOUS!  We chose Majestic Colonial, they charge $300 for outside photographer (Phil is excluded) but they don't charge anything if you bring someone with you that stays at the resort (I guess then they are technically a guest).  Pictures are something we didnt want to give up either but with the $1000 outside fee you may be better off to bring a photog from home... depending on resort rules on that!

 

Have you set the date? Are you 100% decided on Melia?

$300 is so much more reasonable! It would cost me around $5000 to bring a photographer from home. So that is out of the question. I orginally picked 3/26 as our date but then changed my mind to 4/25. I believe both dates are already booked as far as the majestic and Phil are concerned (from what I have seen on blogs on this site). Both of those dates are significant to us and that's why we choose them. So I'm having a hard time budging. I'm still waiting to hear from the melia of either of those dates are avaiable. The melia has a beach front gazebo where the majestic doesn't. I wasn't stressed when I started planning but I'm slowly working my way there! Lol What are phils prices like?

Phil's price was really reasonable for what you get.  He is doing full day coverage (approx 12 hours) and TTD the next day.  We also looked at HDC Photo, Katya Nova, Photo Souvenir and a few others.  When we worked out the costs they were all about the same as Phil (Katya is significantly more, she does amazing work though, just out of our budget!)

 

Phil's nephew Michael may be available? He does amazing work too!!!

Thanks for all your help! I have seen things about phils nephew as well so that is def an option I will inquire about once I hear back from them. Hdc was the other photographer I saw did great work as well. So that would be my next option. Good luck with all your planning! My sister was just at the majestic colonial a few weeks ago (she flew home the day I got engaged) and loved it. She said there were weddings on the beach everyday.

Hey Tori! March 29, 2012 is our date at the majestic colonial! Photo Phil is booked as well now on to planning the reception and decorations. Have you decided on where you are doing your reception?

Have you checked out Katya Nova?  She is AMAZING, I absolutely adore her work and her and her fiance Rob photograph together so I love the idea of having 2 photographers!!  I know she is moving down to Punta Cana so she will be around for your date.  Definitely check her out both FI and I fell in love with her work and decided it was worth it as her photographs are more our style and we know she will capture our day the way we picture it!!!
