Hi Island Girl,

We are getting married on the 7th Sept and like you have the photographer booked and that is it. We did have a planner but costs were too high so are now trying to figure out what to do. We are getting married in a private villa so don't have the luxury or rather safety of a resort having everything under one roof. It's prooving quite difficult planning a wedding online! Would love to magic myself over there are meet with florists, caterers and so on :(

How's your resort planner treating you?

Our resort planner is alright so far. I won't have much contact with her until 2 months away from our wedding - apparently that's their policy. I know what you mean regarding trying to plan things online. Things like florists I would love to meet in person and decide what we like, but we're going to do the best we can with providing examples of what we want etc.

Hello Sept Brides,

We are getting married 9/25/11 at Iberostar Suites in Jamaica.

Have you guys mailed out your invitations yet?  What RSVP date did you put?  It is hard to plan because I have no clue how many people are coming.  I have a lot of yes I am coming but only 6 people booked right now.  Anyone else running into this?

I am in the process of sending my invitation out probably by the end of April. I asked for RSVP's by June 30. The wedding planner at the resort starts planning 2 months before the wedding. So I figure i can give the guest 2 months to RSVP and I have 2 months to plan logistics. I do have some people who say they are coming and still have not booked. Right now I only have 11 people booked plus us 2. Prices seem to be going up but it is what it is.

I had the same problem with people saying "yes I'm coming" and then taking their time booking.  I am getting married in at the Riu (Ocho Rios) 9-10-11 and I sent out travel information in September 2010... I gave a deadline of March 2011 to book.  As of now I have about 40 guests and 50% of them just booked in Feb/March.  Not to worry, folks move in their own pace and most start talking before they even check their financial situation. You real family and friends will make it happen and be there!

I am doing okay so far... booked the photographer, bridesmaid dresses are ordered, groomsmen are straight too. still deciding on flowers and entertainment.  Its crazy that you have to pay for all of this stuff at an all inclusive hotel????   just gonna touch bases with the WC @ ROR and confirm my plans there since the resort has been changing around wedding times and prices... ugh! But as advised, i have allll my emails.

Hope all you brides are doing well :)

Hi September Ladies,

Not long now! my dress and my ladies dresses sorted but we will probably hire the men's gear out there?? Still waiting on final quotes....even a rough quote would do at this point and working with the villa owner (not our wedding villa but one that us and some of our guests are staying in) to plan the welcome beach party.

I find that in general, nailing anyone down is like pulling teeth and is starting to make me go a little bit crazy...are they waiting until August or something? Anywho, can't wait!

Happy planning,

CB

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
