Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas 2011 Wedding

I'm praying all of you ladies still check this thread as I have some questions. I am getting married on 10/19/13 at the palace and selected the royal package. We have a limited budget so we were thinking of going with the semi private dinner at the steak house (we will have 40 guest max) and a cocktail party/dancing at Baja Norte. I was disappointed to hear from my WC that we had to pay an additional $20 per guest for open bar. Is this really necessary? Are there any other options? Is there a bar near by? Also has anyone seen the area for the semi private dinner at the steak house? I'm getting nervous because it takes a week or so to get a reply from the WC. Any information. Or photos would be appreciated Shay

Hey, I think I posted this on your other thread but here are some pics from the steakhouse terrace. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/gallery/album/edit_photos/album_id/143615/offset_image_id/193633/from_uploader

About the Baja Norte, I think I heard that there is a bar right up the stairs so people opted out of the open bar. I think they put up a stink about it but some brides managed to get out of it.  I also heard if you tip the waiters they bring you drinks all night long anyway!  I did not know that renting out the Baja Norte for just the reception (not the dinner) was an option but that's awesome if that's true cause the Baja Norte is by far the prettiest venue option, in my opinon!  Let me know what they say about the open bar!

You can rent out the Baja Norte for part of your reception or the whole thing (dinner), either way you still have to pay the site fee which is $600.

bummer the link won't open for me (it says I don't have access). Yeah they are allowing me to do just the reception there but the $20 per person is a bit much for open bar. Especially since it is an all inclusive (and I have guest who don't drink). Hopefully I will receive a reply from the WC. I'll let you know what she says :)

ugh how annoying.  It's an all-inclusive resort, that makes no sense to pay for an open bar!  If you go the "image gallery" up top I added an album called "RIU Palace Cabo Steakhouse Terrace". You might also be able to find it in "recent photos"

My wedding is coming up quick! 11/22/13! Anyone have suggestions bout reception? We have about 35 people, and we're looking to do a private reception, but I am not sure what locations are avaliable to us?
I opted for the semi-private reception at the Mar de Cortes Steakhouse. There are several locations for private locations. I can email you the checklist, which includes the locations.

That would be great if you can! I am at phoenixlam@live.com! I also wonder about the semi-private set up vs the private set up. I just wonder if I need to spend the extra for the private set up or not. If its worth it,.

How was the semi-private set up? Were you right in the middle of everyone else eating their dinner? Did you get to decorate at all like a "real" reception? Any input is greatly appreciated ! Thanks :)
My renewal ceremony is in August, so I'm not sure whether they stick you in the middle or in a corner. I can email you the checklist, which has the cost, maximums, times & locations for both semi & private receptions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
