Congrats Katie,

You must be soooooooo excited! I'm sure all your dreams will come true for your wedding day. I am also from Canada and a warm sunny place right now is very exciting to look forward to...especially for a wedding  :)

Do you mind if I ask where you went to have your birth certificate translated and apostilled?  This is the one thing that has me flustered ... .?..

The information you have shared will come in very handy (we also have booked the caprice pkg)

I look forward to your post update.

May all your nights be wedding nights

yet don't forget the mornings

...or afternoon delights

Congratulations again

Crys

No one has replied to me from Riu. My wedding is 11/5/11. I sent 2 emails as well as my "Destination Weddings" planner. Its been over 2 weeks now and no reply. I asked about info on the different reception sites, allowed music options and flowers. No response. I cant continue with my color combos and such with out this info. My group planner said her name was Kai? anyone have her, maybe I can ask for Kylene.

Hello,

My name is Michelle

I am getting married at the Riu Palace in Cabo, November 5.

I really hope we can all learn and gather ideas from each other.

The only thing I have set as far as the resort is we are in on of the 4 roof top jacuzzi suites and I am sooo excited.  I think we want to have the ceremony at the Gazebo, not wearing flip flops and my dress is still a little formal for the beach. As for reception area, not sure at all, the terrace sounds great.

Also, not sure as to have a DJ or just iPod, love the idea of having set music but might be alot of work to just have iPod.

Any suggestions?

Hi Michey,

We are having our ceremony at the San Jose Gazebo

(FYI there are two to choose from...1 by the spa and the San Jose Gazebo by the Italian restaurant which I am told is more private)

Depends on how large your group will be for reception area. Terrace is for semi private with a time limit of 1.5 - 2 hrs where as private is inside a restaurant from 6:30 - 11 pm.

We have booked a DJ to look after the music for us...if you bring an Ipod someone will need to look after it for you all night and you still have to rent the speakers which works out to the same cost as the DJ...so you might as well have a DJ do it.

I have noticed that many of you brides have been in contact with the coordinator several months before the wedding.I have tried to contact her asking if there are any suggestions or a checklist and she sent me a very generic email stating that they would contact me 2 months prior.  Should I inquire about the checklist? I feel a little behind. ??

I can give you the checklist.

The rule always has been 2 months prior but they were not always strict with it until now, new management or something.

Most info a lot of girls have gotten from this website.

To play devils advocate, now that I have gone through the panic of no contact.....to the 2 month constant GREAT contact. I see why they do this.

Now, Yes, they should immediately have a set email with attachments of important info that every bride should get as soon as they book a wedding. After that, then the no contact until 2 months prior rule should apply.

Before any bride chews my head off for that, let me explain....

1st, and foremost...They do at least 6 weddings a week. I know I want their undivided attention for mine, not worrying about a wedding in 2012.

2nd Most info they actually give you at the 2 month mark does not change your planning. You can still buy favors, or any decor you want to match your theme/color combo.

3rd the number of people need to be booked for the resort to guarantee a reception location, qty of people need to fit the location.

There are more reasons but it doesnt really matter.

I know now how great (once you get to the 2 month mark) my WC is. She had every detail thought of, and every question I have, answered, sometimes before I ask it.

She has repeatedly told me to ask her for anything and she has been very nice with offering any additionals I may want.

All I'm saying is to be happy about your decision. I sent a paniced email before I was contacted to their corporate complaining that I had not gotten a response and I was worried that I may have picked the wrong resort. I am confident now that we did make that right choice.

The last thing I want is to be a trouble bridezilla that they do not want to help or go the extra mile for.

But again, they should send the email with the reception locations and rules, and the checklist once the wedding is booked.

Whats your email? I will send you EVERYTHING I have.

My wedding is 7 weeks away and I am happy to say I am set with all my plans and purchases, just few details to be completed.  That was all done with no contact until 9 weeks prior to the wedding but more importantly to the other brides on this website that all share info and great ideas.

Thanks Michelle,

They did send me a list of all the ceremony, and reception locations and explained the whole semi private / private locations, they also sent me an ' extras' list, a little policy booklet on the wedding itself, and the menu prices for private dinners. If you have anything extra than that - like a checklist I would love if you sent me the info. Where did you decide for your reception?  I originally was thinking the private baja norte from 6:30 - 11  , now I am second guessing and thinking  the beach area , same time slot, with the added dance floor. I am undecided. I want the most romantic yet fun feel so It is easy to gut guests up dancing. Let me know what you think.  Also, I am a little worried because there is another wedding booked on the same day, ( an hour later)  and I wonder how they deteremine if both brides want the same location for reception? eekk

Thanks for your help . email is [email protected]

Hi Ladies!

Michey-Your wedding in less than a month!! Very exciting!! I am so glad that the coordinator has been so on the ball, it makes me feel a little better.  I understand my wedding isn't until 2012, but I am a crazy planner and it kills me not to know what is going on.  So, I was wondering if you can send me Everything you have. It sounds like I don't have a lot of the info you were telling Mischele about.  My e-mail is [email protected]

It would all be SOOOO appreciated.

I see you are following Crys on the Don Julio beach and terrace!  This is probably exactly what I would like to do.  How many people will you have?  Are you eating on the terrace and then just using the beach for dancing?  Do you know how many people the terrace holds?  Have you seen a review from Crys?  I was really hoping that she would post pictures and give us her feedback on how her big day turned out.

What are you doing for centerpieces?  Flowers?

Also, do you have a rehearsal dinner planned?  Does this cost extra, and how far ahead of time were you able to set it up?

Thanks!!!

Kary

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
