Who is the Best Photographer in the Cancun/Riviera Maya Area? PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

William is an amazing photographer & his prices and customer service are impeccable. We are so lucky to have stumbled upon him on this site. We couldn't have asked for better photos or a better person to be part of our wedding. When we saw the photos he took we were literally breathless. Everything he did that day made the day so extra special. From the getting ready shots, the ceremony, the reception and the trash the dress session were beyond anything we could have dreamed of. He told the story the of our day perfectly and even our friends and family that weren't there are able to feel like they were. We would hire William over and over.

I was married the Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen, Mexico on 5/5/2012. My husband and I hired William Sanchez to photograph our big day and I very much regret our decision to hire him. After the wedding and receiving his full payment he stopped replying to ALL of our emails and pretty much disappeared. Fast forward 3 months after the wedding William had not even sent us a slideshow with highlights.

Originally my husband and I wanted to hire Ivan Luckie but unfortunately he was booked so he actually recommended William Sanchez to us. Since this was the case we reached out to Ivan for help. Once Ivan followed up with him William sent us a slideshow with highlights from our wedding that HE chose. He didn't even bother to check with us which pictures we wanted to include in our own highlights and didn't mention anything is his email as to why he ignored our emails and phone calls for 3 months. Anyways at this point we were just happy to hear from him and that he wasn't stealing our money. In his email 2 months ago when he sent us our highlights he also promised to send us the downloadable links and the rest of our pictures shortly. We NEVER heard from him again. It's been 5 MONTHS since we married and I still do not have my pictures. Ivan Luckie is trying to help us reach him again but apparently William is in Argentina now and unreachable - how convenient for him. I have no idea what do at this point or if I can take legal action against him.

I would like to warn you all. DO NOT HIRE WILLIAM SANCHEZ. He has ruined such special memories for my husband and I. Who knows if we will EVER see our pictures. I will post a follow up soon but please stay away.

Also I would like to note that our contract stated that pictures would take up to 70 days - Well he is 80 days late with no explanation.

Thanks for the heads up -- this is the kind of information that brides need to hear, also -- not just the good reviews!  I am looking for a photographer right now, and will make a note of his name so I stay away...

Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that Tony Ruesg (Juan Navarro Photographers) is available for my wedding on May 17, 2013.  His prices are so reasonable! I just emailed him to see if he still has that date open.  I was not going to do a TTD at a cenote, but after looking at all the beautiful photos of cenotes, I just can't resist booking a TTD session afterwards!

I used to be a photo nerd myself and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. He spent maybe a week editing the pictures afterwards and they came out great. There was another wedding in our hotel the next night and their photographer barely moved so I know Octavio must be one of the better ones in the area and his rates were very good. If you need any more info send me a side e-mail: louloizides -a- yah00.

I attached a random pic from the wedding (hopefully my wife won't get too upset that I posted it... :P).

On a side note - the hotel originally tried to get us to use their photographer and threatened to charge us an extra fee if we brought our own. But when I pushed to see the guy's portfolio they gave us a website that looked like it was put together in 20 min using a template and the pictures weren't very good. I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone's cousin. Based on that experience, I would always try to go outside the hotel for a photographer.

Thank you for the information, this is my kinda of budget!!!

Oh me cant believe I am having 2nd and 3rd thoughts now with 17 weeks to go ........

Can any bride that got married at Bahia Principe in Mexico let me know if they booked a Mexican photographer to do their wedding photos how much the Bahia Principe charged for a day pass.

After seeing what local Photographers packages are and the costs I am thinking about getting local photographer rather than Arrecife  . . .

Many thanks in advance, cant believe we are swithering at this late stage

Hi new brides,

I just recently got married in Playa Del Carmen Feb 2013 and after a lot of researching I booked Jaimie Glez as my photographer. He is newer for wedding photography in Mexico but he is a very talented photography. I highly recommend him. Him and his wife take the photo's and they are a great team to work with. Jaimie has an eye for great picture taking and we just reviewed our preview pictures for our wedding and the pictures turned out stunning. If anyone would like to see pictures send me your email address and I will send you some.

I know how important pictures are on your wedding day and as a recent married bride I am more then happy with the pictures Jaimie took. I think he will start being in high demand as soon as word of mouth spreads around I know being a bride from Canada it was very hard to choose a wedding photographer in Mexico and I thought of flying in my own but my expectations were met with booking Jaimie Glez. Please check out his website and for all you Canadian and USA brides out there he is worth booking he is truly a talented photographer and very easy going. I had lots of fun taking pictures on my wedding day because he is very humble but also very professional. I think sometimes we make decisions because some photographers mass advertise but its some that get over looked because they are not advertised everywhere and that's the great thing about this forum because I know as a bride stressing out for my big wedding day this forum helped a lot. Everyone who has seen our wedding photo's so far have all said that our photo's look like they should be in a magazine and if you are looking for someone who will make your wedding pictures elegant, modern and romantic book Jaimie! You won't regret it. http://jaimeglez.com/wedding-photography/

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
