Who is the Best Photographer in the Cancun/Riviera Maya Area? PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

My wife & I just had our destination wedding photographed by Jaime & Magda of Jaime Glez Photography.  Not only were they professional, but they were warm, personable, and made it very easy for us to be ourselves during our photo shoot.

We initially found them because of pictures they took of a wedding at the venue we had chosen in Xcaret Park (Playa del Carmen).  We fell in love with the picture and immediately asked our wedding planner to contact them.  Luckily they were available and were also as eager as we were because they loved taking pictures at that specific venue.

We never met them until the day of the wedding and from the very second we started talking to them, you could see the excitement and passion in this husband and wife power duo!  We didn't get any sense that it was "just business" and we were only getting what we paid for.  Jaime & Magda wanted soooo much to be a part of our wedding day.  They wanted to know us individually and as a couple.  He wanted to know how we met, how we fell in love.  He really wanted to know "us."

During the wedding, Jaime & Magda worked very hard in trying to photograph the perfect moment for us.  Our family & friends have been to multiple weddings and complimented on how diligent they both were and how much harder they worked compared to other photographers they've seen.  One of our guests even called Jaime "Spider-Man" because of the positions he would be in to get that perfect angle.

We had so much fun during our Trash-The-Dress photo shoot.  My wife was very hesitant with trashing her real wedding dress, but I had to remind her that capturing our wedding weekend is a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Jaime & Magda's warm and easy going personality helped me ease her anxiety and allowed us to forget about the little things.  After the shoot, my wife had a huge smile & we both boasted on how fun it was.  It was all due to Jaime Glez Photography!

We really hope we get to work with Jaime and Magda again in the future.  They can do photo shoots in the states, too, and we will definitely recommend this dynamic, artistic, very hard-working, and passionate duo to the rest of our family members with upcoming weddings.

Thank you, again, Jaime and Magda for being such a huge part of our wedding day! We cannot wait to see all the special moments you captured!  Check out his site: jaimeglez.com

Welcome to the forum, melfaybik, and Congrats on your Mayan Riviera wedding coming up!!! Which date in May is your wedding?

One concern with bringing a photographer from home, is that they're not licensed to work in Mexico, and will be questioned at customs when flying in with professional equipment. We also agree that a local professional has preferred experience with finding the best picturesque spots to capture that "Gold" you will cherish in your wedding photos for a lifetime!

Here's a sample of what we're talking about.......with more at an album here: magical wedding "moments that matter"

We just had our wedding at Dreams Puerto Aventuras on Jan 20, 2014. We had an outside photographer named Jhankarlo and his assistant Diana, they were amazing!!!! I would highly recommend them to any couple!!!! Very reasonably priced and they even spent extra time with us just the get the right shots. I will be doing a review just for them!! They have worked through Cancun and Mayan Riviera areas so is familiar with many of the resorts and Jhankarlo has an eye for amazing light and setting up beautiful shots. Check out their portfolio.

We also did our trash the dress shoot with them as well and had an amazing time. They are so easy going and just makes the shoot extremely fun and comfortable. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Great pics! Loved her.

I agree; Claudia Rodriguez and her team at Claudia Photo are AMAZING!  We had then photograph our wedding in April 2013 at the Omni Cancun and the photos are incredible.  We met with her prior to hiring her and she put us at ease immediately.  She is warm and very passionate about her work.  The photos were one of my top priorities and she and her team exceeded my expectations.  Everyone who looks at my photos comments on how they wish they had hired a photographer with her amazing eye for light, settings, and details.  I would recommend her to absolutely anyone!  She and her team spent time photographing for about an hour before and then during the ceremony, for part of the reception and a couple of days later for our TTD session.  If anyone would like to reach out, I would be happy to share my online gallery with you so you can see the beautiful photos.

Hi MAintheHammer

i was wondering if you could share your online gallery with me and my fiancee.

we have hired Claudia as well for our upcoming wedding and would love to see some pictures that she has done recently.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU ladies!! Finding the "best" photographer can be so overwhelming and is extremely subjective. Between factoring in price, style, availability, package options, etc I'm going crazy! Thank you for sharing your experiences and your photos to help those of us who are still in the planning stages!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
