The photographer Christian Velazco shot our wedding in the Riviera Maya in March and his photos were amazing!! And he is very affordable!!!

Here are some photos that were featured in Wedding Channel:

Christian was fantastic -- his attitude and professionalism made him a dream to work with and his skills made the output (our wedding album) amazing!! He really captured the essence of our wedding, our emotions, our joy, our partying - everything! The photos are beautiful - photojournalistic, elegant and beautiful. My mom kept talking about how he was running around trying to get every single shot. He managed to be everywhere without being intrusive put my fiance at ease and we got FANTASTIC photos from it. Additionally, we were running late and some people, ahem, were getting stressed about it - but Christian was totally calm and collected, but really hustling and sprinting to get every single photos we wanted. He was a gem, such a professional and so sweet! He truly captured the energy of our dance floor - I didn't post many of those pics because our friends may not want to be on blogs ;) But my husband and I crack up when we look at the album, because he caught everyone dancing their feet off, with the fog machine  interrupting some shots and funny favors - truly hilarious!

Also, because it is just him and his partner - the price ended up being much less than other companies. However, the lower cost does not impact the quality at all - we could not be more thrilled with how everything came out that I really wanted to post here to help future Mexico brides!!

Feel free to message me with any questions!

I went through the same thing. There were three things that I decided were most important to me.

1. I narrowed down by Style: What kind of style of photography do you like? I do not want a lot of posed pictures. My favorite pictures are the ones that are captured when no one know they are even being photographed.

2. Price. I had a budget...don't we all? After I found about 6 photographers I liked, I emailed them all for samples of their work and pricing.

3. Responsiveness: There were photographers who got back to me in a couple days and others who took too long. I am always willing to pay a little more for professionalism and consistent communication.

Hope this helps!

I just booked Juan Navarro. After researching many many photographers in the area he was the most responsive (almost always responded with a couple hours), very willing to work with your budget and needs, and he had GREAT reviews. There are many other good photographers, so I guess it just depends on your budget. Because we had to pay the resort a $500 fee, we were limited on our budget.

Some that seemed very good (but unfortunately not within my budget) were Claudia Rodriguez, Del Sol, and Pierre Visual Studio.

We booked Phoebe Landa Photography - http://www.weddingphotographermexico.com/ and Bartek was our photographer. We were so pleased! He not only did an amazing job, but he was so much fun and felt like more of a guest than a vendor. We got married on July 28th in Cancun. I had my digital proofs in two weeks and my prints and CD are being Fed Ex'd as I type this. It would have been sooner if I had been more on the ball about picking out my enlargements. Their studio is based in Mexico City, and doesn't have a huge presence in the RM yet - they are still breaking into the market - so don't count them out b/c you don't see a million reviews online. Pricing was so incredibly reasonable and we actually ended up getting more photography time than we thought we would ($2100 for 8+ hrs). We got married at Beach Palace, and they require outside vendors either pay $500 or be a guest of the hotel. Phoebe and I split the cost of 1 night ($300)...so an extra $150 for me. No big deal for me since we got such a great rate. The best part was, Bartek was there with us so we did photos on the beach the next morning.

We booked Jennifer and Michael Lewis...they are a husband/wife team that do their shoots together. They do beautiful work and are reasonably priced. Especially when you consider that you're getting two for the price of one.  That was our deciding factor; you don't have to worry about missing a moment or being limited to only one style of photography.  You are also able to get the "getting ready" pics for both sides. They have plenty of pictures on their website but if you contact them they'll send you a whole wedding album so you can see one start to finish.

Planning a destination wedding is very tiring especially when you can't see things or meet people you're considering hiring.  My advice is to find one that's a good fit and just go with it. No amount of time and research will ease your tension.  Basically everyone on here says their photographer is the best. That just means everyone was pleased so really how could you go wrong?

We have booked M&J Photography and we are soooo excited to work with Michael and Jennifer Lewis.  They are an American couple who now live in Mexico and their work is great.  My fiance and I are REALLY happy with our decison and look forward to our pictures.  They are both extremely professional and there are not words to describe how HELPFUL they are.  Jennifer sent an email before I had booked her that she was willing to answer ANY questions I ever had even if I didn't book them.

The couple requests to do a Skype Session with them so you can meet them and get any questions answered before you book.  They both seem relaxed, down-to-earth, and helpful, and they are VERY reasonably priced!  On the wedding day, Michael shoots the groom getting ready and Jennifer shoots the bride.  Then the rest of the time they both shoot, and some of the time Michael shoots and Jennifer assists. They also shoot Cenote Trash the Dress sessions. I would HIGHLY recommend that you book Michael and Jennifer Lewis (M&J Photography)!!!  Good luck in your decision, whomever you choose!

I think we actually have decided on M&J photography!! So funny you both suggested them. We had our skype session and are waiting for one other quote for decoration price purposes and then we were planning to book them. I can't wait to see your photos begirl1123 since your wedding is coming up! Are you both doing TTD cenote?!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
