Who is the Best Photographer in the Cancun/Riviera Maya Area? PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

I would budget anywhere from $1500 and up depending on how important photography is for you.  You can get packages for less but the quality and quantity is not always good.  We paid $1850 for 3 hours with 2 photographers and got all photos editied, on a disc, as well as 150 printed photos.  Make sure your photographer will give you a digital copy of all of your photos so you can print out more for your family and yourself.

We got married on 3/3/2011 and we used takeitfoto as our photographers... they were great to work with and really nice people, great with communication, not too intrusive, and of course the pictures came out awesome.  We had two photographers (one male, one female which is perfect) for the whole day - they don't charge hourly - and they gave us plenty of pictures and their prices are totally reasonable.  Their website is http://www.fototakeit.com/foto_take_it/Home.html

We highly recommend them - can't say enough good things about them, all of our guests loved them too.

Thank you very much v1v2v3, it is true, this is the second year that we are on the market in Mexico, we recently discovered BDW, and now we are here:

There are countless wedding photographers around all catering for different budgets so the best I can recommend is do your research and see who caters for your particular needs. We all have our 'favorites'  but the important thing is to hire someone who you 'click' with, who can motivate you, who is artistic and who is reliable and whom you trust. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for someone else! Some photographers post fantastic pictures but they are not so cool to work with for various reasons. Get quotes from various photographers but don't simply choose the cheapest, you will always get what you pay for at the end of the day. Some are more professional than others and don't forget the size of the mega pixels on their cameras are not the most important thing either. One of my personal favorite's is www.grae-leaf.com, a young Californian guy who started off in L.A. and studied at the NY Arts Academy but there are many other good photographers. Everyone is different and in my profession as a Minister I have come across most photographers who work in this area. Having worked in photography myself for several years (not as a photographer but admin, assistant, pre- and post production) I feel that it is just as important to hire someone who you feel comfortable with as someone who knows their camera inside out. If they can't motivate you in an unobtrusive way to get 'that' shot or sense your mood at a particular moment and who is constantly aware of where they should be at the right moment, the best photographer is not going to deliver the pictures you want. Email photographers and make sure you talk with them in person just to get a feeling who they are and how they tick, don't necessarily listen to who's booked whom, everyone is different and everyone has a different personality. Good luck! :)

Hi Melissa,

We would be happy to help you document your celebration.  We recently relocated to the area and just joined the forum yesterday.  Besides weddings my wife and I shoot for National Geographic Image Collection.  I tend to have a photojounalistic style and my wife more of an elegant portrait style.  Please feel free to take a look at our website www.mandjphoto.com . You can also contact us to get an email for a Denver bride whose wedding I shot in Tulum.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
