Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the info ladies. I am starting to search for a DJ now & am debating on using someone from Mood Event Services with all the positive feedback you have given. Music is very important to us for the reception. Can't have crappy music!!

KIMBOS - Have you had your wedding yet? How was your experience with Mood Events? Thanks! ~Alyssa

I gave him some examples of the music that I like (mostly top 40 songs) and he has all those songs....they have a collection of over 60,000 songs.  They seem to have really good sound equipment too, they're always updating their equipment. They have a lightup dance floor, but I haven't decided yet if I will use that.  I suggest that you check into Mood Event services, if you haven't decided on a DJ yet.

How long will you be having DB Julian and how much was his quote? I know most people say DJ Mannia is aobut $900.

Hi Shannon,

I see that you  have mentioned boradem for a DJ suggestion, my hotel suggested him as well. Can you please tell me a little more about him and your experience? Thanks so much

Hi brides,

I just had a wedding in Punta Cana on May 8, 2014 at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe.  It was an amazing wedding, but the only downside was the DJ company I used.  I used Dj Mannia because of the great things I've heard about them thru forums.

HOWEVER, I have to let other brides know about my negative experience because for $1,300 US I was very disappointed at the company and wished I had gone with a different DJ/MC service.

FIrst of all, the people who I had e-mail correspondence with did not tell me that the DJ is also the MC.  I still went ahead with it because of all the positive reviews on this forum.

The people I had e-mail correspondence with named Amy and Carlos Martinez did not give my DJ/MC the music file for our FIRST DANCE (we did a medley of songs), so I sent my mp3 file ahead of time, so that they can download our music.  They also did not send German my wedding day timeline that I had e-mailed days ahead.

I was VERY DISAPPOINTED at this company, and would not recommend this company because they made the DJ/MC so unprepared for my wedding and it basically delayed everything by AT LEAST 15 minutes because the DJ/MC came up to us at the beginning of the wedding and asked for our first dance and I said "you didn't download it?" he said whoever I spoke with did not give it to him.  Luckily, I had the song downloaded on my iPhone, so he attached it on the dock.

Then, he was going over the dj questionnaire about introductions, and I was thinking the whole time, how can our MC seem like he doesn't know the flow of our wedding?  I asked him about the timeline and he said he did not receive that either.  I have proof of all my e-mails and I have proof of sent e-mails on my yahoo account.

The DJ/MC himself, German, was very nice and pleasant, but the fact that the company made him look unprofessional and unprepared was very disappointing.  I had to come up to him each time to explain what's next on the timeline.  I am in no means a bridezilla because I accommodate everything and yes, I still had fun at my wedding and so did our guests because luckily we are all laid-back people.

But if you want an organized wedding reception or if you are a perfectionist or simply want a good flow of things without you being stressed, do not get DJ Mannia services.  I may be a rare case, but I did not know nor expect that DJ Mannia will mess up my wedding reception until they did it to me.  So for $1,300 I could've gotten a better DJ and MC service.  Not a good surprise.

Also, that youtube video or any youtube videos is definitely not like the DJ they sent.  They play off your playlist as if you are playing music off your computer or iPhone.  Poor transitioning and mixing.  The youtube videos are misleading.  You think you'd get a quality dj like the ones you hear at clubs or radio, but it isn't.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND DJ MANNIA unfortunately this was my experience with them.  Goodluck brides!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience! I just noticed though that your wedding was in Punta Cana? There is also a DJ Mannia in Mexico (and this thread is about him) - I'm wondering maybe if there are 2 different DJs with the same names. Just don't want you to be mistakenly leaving negative reviews for the wrong DJ! :)

I was looking at a few different DJs, but ended up going with DJ Discomovil because of some good reviews and frankly, a very competitive rate! I also liked that he replied immediately and that he has this song chooser on his website so I could see what type of music he has. Our friends are big party animals and love to dance, and I wanted to make sure that he'd have music we like to dance to (club music - EDM). I inquired with a few other DJs, but the music they sent me were not to our personal taste at all

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
