The Hard Rock Punta Cana

We are back from the wedding and it was amazing.  Now that I have done it, it was a breeze and I have no idea why I was worried about things not coming together.  We had 31 guest attend.  We didn't do a reception after just dinner for us and the guests.  We met with the W.C. the first full day we were there and that is all that you see of her.  She goes over the details and tells you what part of the beach you will get married on.  I am so glad we paid attention in that meeting because the W.C. ended up being sick the day of the wedding so nobody in the wedding party knew what to do.  Thank god I wasn't down there with them or I would have been stressing.  My husband showed everyone their places and it all turned out great.  They pick you and whomever is walking you down the aisle up in your room 5 minutes before the ceremony takes place and bring you to the location.  The photographer that comes with the package took some amazing pictures.  I am so pleased with the way everything turned out.  We did a Symbolic Ceremony so it maybe lasted 15 minutes if that.  Everything went by so quickly that I don't even remember hearing the guitarist that we had playing.

The resort is beautiful and just like everyone is saying it is HUGE! The first day we got there I was so overwhelmed and thought that maybe we made a mistake in picking the location.  Once our guest started to arrive then I knew that we had made the right decision.  It is perfect for a group of people and the weather we had was just perfect.  It was about 90 degrees plus humidity.  I read a lot of reviews about the customer service being poor and I partially agree with that.  I say that because the workers do not speak very good English.  Everyone speaks Spanish so at times it was frustrating because nobody understood what you wanted.  After a few days you pick up on things and find the bartenders that speak somewhat good English so it all worked out.  The standard room was beautiful and we didn't even upgrade.  I loved the bathroom with the double shower heads.

Overall there is nothing to be worried about the place is amazing and I would go back in a heartbeat :) Best of luck to everyone!!!

Breann,

Thanks for the update!! So happy you had a great time!

We would love to see some pics :)

I have a question- Given your numbers, you must have qualified for the unlimited functions. Did you also qualify for the free stay? Did they refund you when you were leaving? How did that work?

Thanks

Sunlover-

I am not sure what you are talking about for the free stay.  We didn't get any of that but that was probably because we went through Apple Vacations to book the flight and hotel and not directly from the Hard Rock website.  I am assuming you are talking that if you book right from the Hard Rock website they offer incentives for having more people stay with you? We did get the 1500 resort credit but we used all the credits on the wedding package.

Hi Breann,

Please see below. This was what was sent to me when we booked our wedding group. We did not book directly with the resort (used an agent). I underlined the "free stay". I just assumed that everyone qualified....

I would higly suggest the HRH for a larger group. I recently had my wedding there and it is truly amazing! We had 56 total in our group for the wedding and everything was fabulous. It is a very large resort but  it will accomodate everyone with their likes. We were overwhelmed the first day by how big the resort is but you get used to it by your second day. The price of the wedding package was non-comparable and we received our 7 nights back so bride and groom stayed free (depending on how many nights you book with your party). We also had unlimited private functions and they were really upscale.

If you do book HRH I highly recommend you use HDC Photography. They are very easy to communicate with and are very reasonably priced. Our pictures are beautiful and our photographer Miljan was absolutely fabulous. He was very professional and personable at our wedding.  My husband hates getting his photo taken but somehow Miljan made him not mind.  Multiple guest have contacted my family after the wedding to inquire about information on the photography company. We got our wedding disc before we left the resort and within 3 weeks we received our wedding book. Couldn't have picked a better company!!

Melissaanddave,

We have 70 people going & you totally eased my mind!! With the unlimited private functions, do you have the option of having a function @ a restaurant? or do you have to choose an outdoor buffet option? We are planning our reception on the terrace, but wondered if we could use a restaurant for the welcome dinner etc.

Also, did they credit you the 7 days free (give you $$)? How did that work? Also, did they upgrade your room?

We would love to see your HDC pics!!!

Thanks!

Hello ladies!   I am back on the site and checking in because I have gotten a few questions about the resort and certain specific things.  I was married at HRH on May 7th this year and had at the time the largest wedding they have ever had on the property (I am sure some of you will surpass my 104 soon).  Because of our size we qualified for the free unlimited events and our 7 night stay being free as well.  The way that works is when you book your group travel through the Miami office you are charged the 7 nights up front.  If you spend any money while onsite and charge it to your room (spa services outside of the promo, casino stuff, the gift shop, etc) that is deducted from your total credit.  The remaining amount is what is refunded to your credit card after your wedding is over.  Nancy and the onsite accountant will meet with you after the wedding to tell you what will be credited back.   The chairs ARE included in your events as well as the linens but if you want anything upgraded you have to pay.  We did our Cinco de Mayo Welcome Reception on the Eclipse Terrace so we upgraded the linens and decor and FYI the Mexican buffet was the BEST food the entire weekend.  As for the restaurants you can host something in there if there isn't something already.  Our farewell Mother's Day brunch was in the Mexican restaurant and was a private event for just my guests.   I did a site visit prior to getting engaged because we were already on vacation in DR so I met Nancy and the WC I would work with that day so once I signed my contract I started emailing them.  They are usually on top of everything but will have a few delays in emailing back.  The best way in communicating with them so all your questions are answered is in bullets so that your WC will respond in another color to everything.   What else, I HIGHLY recommend staying on top of your charges because I had a 5 month battle to get money refunded back to my card for my mother's room but it was resolved so I am happy again. My pictures aren't active on HDC anymore but there are few on the website below if you want to check them out.   http://blackbridalbliss.com/2011/10/18/tie-the-knot-tuesday-yaasmeen-richard/   Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!   Y~

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
