Advice on OOT vs. Favors

Hey girls!!  Ok, so all along I was thinking because we are doing OOT bags for everyone, that we didn't need actual favors for the wedding day.  Now i'm starting to second guess myself.  We are giving the OOT bags out during our welcome cocktail party on Thursday night, so that we can really take time to thank everyone for coming.  Do we need to give out favors on the wedding day as well?  I already bought the favors for my AHR, but haven't given any thought to the wedding itself!

 

 

What do you think and/or what are you doing!?!  Favors...OOT bags...both??

I actually did both. Looking back on it, I have no idea why I did both but I guess I thought it would be nice! lol...So my guests got OOT bags at our welcome dinner & since we were in Jamaica, as favors I gave them mini bottles of Appleton Rum & Starfish Wine Stoppers. The favors were not very expensive & since my group was relatively small it all worked out.

I would honestly say that you don't have to do both but if you want to & its not an added project for you and its affordable then go for it.

Hey Jessica! I think reception favors would be a nice touch but def. not required so I say do whatever works with your budget.

 

We're doing both. Like you, we're giving out OOT bags at our welcome dinner. Loved the idea of giving favors at the reception so we're doing shot glasses and lottery tickets. They didn't cost much and we're not going all out on OOT bags so, all things considered, we wont be spending a fortune. If we have and AHR we probably won't do favors though.

We don't have a big group (17 so far), so it wouldn't be expensive.  I guess I was just worried about taking one more thing -- we are 5 months away and my FI is already complaining about how much stuff we have to take down with us! lol  Maybe I can find something cute in Playa Del Carmen to buy for everyone?  That way it could be a nice souvenier of mexico as well?

We are really doing only favors.  I plan on giving them all a pre-travel document that includes just a few items for them to take with them.  Luggage tags, Island breeze hand sanitizer and small magnets.  This way they will have the tags prior to leaving and I don't have to carry it all down with me.  They all live really close to us and there are only 15 going so it's no big deal.  Good luck on your decision.  I don't think it will matter which way you go.  I honestly don't think that your guests have and ideas about OOT bags.  I had never heard of them till I got on this site.

Thats a great idea & exactly what I did so that was 1 less thing that I had to worry about packing.

What did you end up getting!?!  I'm curious what's out there!  I don't want anything alcohol related -- no shot glasses, wine stoppers...neither of our parents drink.

Well I was a Jamaica bride so I got them mini bottles of Appleton Rum since its well known in Jamaica. I'm trying to think of fun Mexico favors but I'm drawing a blank. Mini bottles of Tequila would be easy but won't work since you don't want anything alcohol related. How about mini bottles of Tabasco/Mexian hot sauce or salsa? Or Mexican pastries/cookies from a local bakery? Oh what about Mexican wedding cookies?  You could probably search the forum for some better ideas!
