Rabbi in Riviera Maya or Playa del Carmen or Cancun???

Too funny - I am researching the very same thing!!!

We may have to bit the bullet and fly someone in - there are plenty of rabbi's who will do this, you have to cover their honorarium and then all their expenses.

Another idea, is to find someone in Mexico City where there is a HUGE Jewish population, but then you have to mitigate against any potential language barriers and find the right sect of Judaism and in the end, you still have to cover at least their flight and honorarium...

Have you asked your Rabbi what cost to officiate?

Otherwise, I have been chatting with a few online that seem terrific - Reform rabbi's since my fiance is not Jewish.

Where are you having your wedding btw?

Give me dets girlfriend!!!

Also, I am still trying to pick the right resort myself - I want something intimate where we don't feel part of a production line, but we will probably be between 70-85 guests...

Have you guys had any luck? I just sent a deposit to Dreams Riviera Cancun and now I am trying to figure out the Rabbi situation. Contacted the Chabad Rabbi and he said he doesn't officiate destination weddings. Don't really want the expense of flying in someone. We may have a family friend do it, since theoretically in Judaism anyone with appropriate knowledge of a jewish ceremony may officiate, and since its only going to be a symbolic (get legally married here in the states) it doesn't really matter. I am a bit afraid it won't be as special as I have always imagined without a Rabbi...

I went through the exact sane dilemma as you and we decided to have an "international wedding" with a justice of the peace who will incorporate the Kiddushin under the choosy including 7 blessings, circling, Ketubah reading etc. As well as a Mayan ceremony. If you are legally getting married before, as are we, that's where you can do it in a synagogue with a rabbi and bring the parts of the ceremony you like to Mexico. Your wedding will be awesome and you can bring the Jewish to the Mayan Riviera without the Rabbi - it's what you and your hubby do and guests support that counts! Marianne

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
