ROR - Tripadviser reviews

Hi Girls....

Not that I'm freaking out... BUT.. I like to go to Tripadvisor occasionally and look at the reviews of the particular destination I'm going to. Well, with having my wedding at Riu Ocho Rios, i do check their reviews (keeping in mind that some people exaggarate), the reviews don't seem to be very positive lately...

Please put me at ease and tell me I'm going with the right place!

Thanks

I have never been to that resort, but I do go on trip advisor alot!  I have found that some people complain about the littlest things.  Some people complain about the resort being to big, or to small.  You will get some negative resorts even at the top rated resorts.  Don't get discouraged!

I got married at ROR Nov 17th 2010. My wedding day was amazing, but not because of the staff, or the coordinator who forgot stuff and we spent alot of time waiting, but because of my family and friends it was the best day of my life. As for the hotel reviews since we have been back i have hear nothing but bad reviews, i think the Resort service has taken a nose dive over the last few months. Because i picked the resort also based on raving reviews, and when we got there the service was very 2 starish quite disappointing. I dont travel alot and so never have high expectations, but being my wedding week, their undestanding in most situations would have been most appreciated, but it just wasnt there. I hope for your sake that the service picks up, and you are treated much better than we were The resort is gorgeous so is the beach ENJOY It try not to deal with the front desk if you dont have to, they were not very accomodating or helpful...Congratulations

ok, so this post is making me nervous, I try to avoid tripadvisor because frankly most people only take time to post negative things but, I feel responsible that my guests will be styaing at the resort I picked, so if it isn't up to par I will be dissapointed. On the same note I stayed at the Riu Palace in Aruba last January, before we went I was looking on trip advisor and they had awful reviews, when we got there the resort was amazing! It actually was the reason we picked the ROR, hope it doesnt dissapoint

I travel up to 10 times a year and do check Tripadvisor too. However, you can rely on it much. I've stayed in 5-star resorts that had just positive reviews and my experience was absolutely awful and then I stayed at small 3-star resorts with a number of negative reviews and I loved it more than anything.

FYI, a lot of resorts do check Tripadvisor to see where they are at. If they see something they can fix, there's a good chance, it will happen soon.  But sometimes they can't do much about "moldy smells, or noises from other guests".

Cheers!

Thanks everyone... I also do believe that your vacation is what you make of it, and like Dmitri said, sometimes the places with most wonderful reviews turn out to be disappointing.... Everyone has different expectations - mine are as long as there food, alcohol, and a beautiful beach - things will be peachy :)

We staryed at ROR Dec31/10-Jan7/11 and I left a review on TA. Which I have left positive ones as well as bad so I'm not a moaner.

It was a fact finding/vacation trip to decide where to stay for our wedding Nov 2011.

I can answer any questions you have a with a non hysterical or over exaggerated answer.

Overall the stay was fine, nowhere is perfect unless your pockets are deep so you take what you can.

We decided not to have our wedding there. Mostly becasue of the size.

And dont deal with the front desk more than you have to. Find Santana the manager, he makes things happen.

Good luck and all the best

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
