I have always thought the photo booth idea is adorable for a casual reception, but there was no way we could justify spending that much after the wedding.  God bless the creative DIYers that have come before me!  I did a search for DIY photo booths on here and didn't see anything, so I thought I'd share this:

The Offbeat Bride has a great tutorial on how to set this up and I found two other articles that give instructions on how to create a "booth" with PVC pipe and fabric.  And I cannot believe it - my FI is totally excited!  He looked at the plans and got ideas for his own little tweaks and can't wait to build it!

This etsy seller has a customizable PDF for 9.95 that are templates specifically for Photo booths:

The photo booth software is $60, but all-in-all it's affordable and so much cheaper then hiring one!

Hope you enjoy!!

Oh thanks for posting!  I've been trying to figure out how to put together my own photo booth for our AHR and save costs at the same time.

We plan on doing lots of props for costumes to spice up the photos as we we will have alot of elderly guests coming.  We did this at our Destination wedding with a poloroid camera and it was so cute to see the older folks having fun with the costumes!

We are also going to let guests take 1 picture home as a favor and 1 picture will post to the guest book.

Thanks again for posting this!  Would love to see some more photo booth ideas!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
