OOT Bags - Anyone DISLIKE???

Recommended Posts

I am doing OOT bags, but I'm not including things people will probably bring anyway.  We are having a pretty small wedding, so I'm going to make a sort of "Favorite Things" type bag, with candles, flip flops, sarongs, some jewelry, shirts for the guys, mugs, and a "too much fun, too much sun" kit.  I think it's a nice gesture.  This is also where we will put presents for our mothers and my sister.  I agree that they are not a must, and sometimes they can just turn into wasted money on things people might not use or already have.

Oh. thank you.  We got so many samples of bags and finally decided on these........think it will be something the guys will use too.

We got Kodak underwater disposable cameras....worked out to be 6.67 per camera.  Received promptly and in great condition

WOW, I would love to know what you put in your $10.00 OOT bags.  For that price, I would totally be up for it.  The amazingness of the ladies on here that are doing an OOT bag has me weary of doing one myself for budget constraints.  Could you please share?

i am with you on this, Schmizer. They are time consuming but the fact that our family and friends are taking time for us and spending thousands of dollars is really worth my time. And I also like to surprise people with some little, personalized items. I think our guests will really appreciate it. Besides they are kind of fun to put together. I am actually looking forward to that. As soon as i get all the RSVPs I am on OOT bags :)

My closest friends and family are flying thousands of miles, using their vacation time and spending thousands of dollars to spend our special day with us.  I want them to know how much they mean to us, and the OOT bags are just one of the ways I plan to show them that they are appreciated. The couple of hours time, money spent and the inconvenience of getting the stuff there is the least I can do.

Also, realize that I have always gotten super excited about surprising others with gifts.  Our OOT bags will have some of the goodies that I have seen in other bags, but will also include items that I know our guests won't bring and things that are personalized for them that will make their day.

My two cents:)

I am not doing a bag with logos or our initials or anything like that because i figure no one will use bags like that after the wedding.  BUT I am the person who always seems to have to hand out sunscreen and aloe and band aids to people who forget to bring them, so I was going to do a goodie bag with pratical items like that in it.  I also remember reading a  post somewhere on here that one bride brought one big tub full of sunscreen, aloe, bug spray, etc. and let the guests know they were free to use it as needed.  So that is another idea.  I am not wasting money on personalized items for the OOT, just trying to think of things that people may forget that they will need or find useful.  chapstick, deck of cards, etc.   I do NOT have the creativity that some of the brides on here do, although I am always impressed with those that put up threads on some amazing OOT DIY projects.  :)

What I am finding is that my OOT bags are going to costs us a fortune! We now have 80 ppl booked.

I really wanted to give them something to show our appreciation for travelling so far. I am only including practical items as well, but also things that will make their stay a little bit more enjoyable such as pool/beach toys, games etc.

Th eonly think that we are going to personalize is our Travel mugs, but that may cahnge, as a gather more ideas from the rest of the brides here!

Great bags! I like the underwater camera idea and am definitely going to check it out!! We think we might have a large group as well so maybe i'll throw the cameras in our wedding party/parent/sibling bags. A personalized cd is also an awesome idea!! Very inexpensive but a great way to share your special songs with your closest friends and family :) Thanks for the ideas!!

We are also having a lot of people travel down with us. We are going to end up making about 40 bags. The oot bags do get very expensive... I have been adding things up and the cost keeps rising and rising... We are staying at an All Inclusive Resort, so I am not adding any snacks except Tortuga Rum Cakes because it is something I know the resort will not be offering. I am not including any kits with sunscreen/advil as I believe all of our guests will pack that. We are adding underwater cameras something fun I know 90% of people will not bring. We are adding Acrylic Tumblers with Straws for all adults but not children, Squeeze bottles for the children. Godiva also sells macaroons that are to die for!! They are pretty decent sized and one person cannot eat a whole one so we are adding one of those to each bag. We bought small packs of bubbles for the children and I am designing dry erase door hangers for each room for guests to leave each other messages. I am NOT going to do beach bags unless I can find decent ones that are pretty inexpensive, I think it is just going to be plain white bags!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
