Love the bouquet, BeachBride!!  Have the time of your life on your wedding trip!  Can't wait to see your pics!!

Sleigh, my WC usually resonds within 24 hours.  I started planning in March/ April for our September wedding (5 months before the wedding), and it has been plenty of time.  I wouldn't worry!  And, these ladies are right, this forum is VERY helpful!

Canadiangirl, I am having about 20 people (counting me and my fiance), and we are doing a private beach bbq for our reception.  There is no fee for the area, and it is $55 pp.  It includes all food, drinks, etc.  We can have the beach area from 6-10 pm, and we are renting the resort's sound system so we can cut a sand rug...haha!

Also, I replied to your post about the photographer, but I am not seeing it on here...did you ever receive what I wrote?  I am going with TrueColours, and they have been amazing to work with so far.  Look at the new pics on their site and blog.

if you dont mind me asking you how much are you paying for your package with true colours? I got a price for an outsider for 1000.00 with the extra TTD day. Would love to exchange some ideas.

I'm still going with Bridal Bouquet 52 (pic below), but now I'm keeping the white roses (6 instead of 12 though), I'm changing the dendrobium orchids to cymbidium orchids to get my touch of pink(2nd pic), keeping the hydrangeas and adding bear grass as an accent.  We also decided that my fiance will have a white rose boutinerre with bear grass accent.  Can't wait to see!

Thanks! She got back to me on Tuesday (which was 5 days), but I had a lot of questions so maybe thats what took so long. no idea.  I still have one more important question that I emailed back on tuesday before we reserve our date (10-17-11).  Maybe I can ask you guys since who knows when she'll return my email and I feel so bad asking all these questions!

My question is, on the site it says you need to be there 3 days before the wedding.  It sounds like they mean business days and since our wedding is on a monday, that would mean more like 5 days!  Which would be a stretch for us (my biggest fear is getting sunburned before the wedding and looking like a lobster! hah!).  Anyone know the specifics on this policy?

Also, are you getting any type of deal on your room?  I know a lot of resorts offer a discounted or free room if your guests book x amount of rooms but they dont seem to do this.

Remember business days! I would say she got back to you in 3 days which is pretty good!

Not sure on how the 3 day rule works, if anything, perhaps just Sunday doesn't count?  That's probably an easy google search to find out...

As for discounts... you should be receiving a free room upgrade and a VIP bracelet.

I contacted the group reservations department at the resort (I asked Simone, my WC, for their email address), and they did email me back that if a certain number of guests book DIRECTLY through the resort, you can get your room for free.  Here is what she sent:

Thank you for considering our wonderful resort for such an special event. Our group rates based on a minimum 10 rooms is as follows:

Junior Suite

Single Occupancy:       US$194.00 per person per night

Double Occupancy:    US$121.00  per person per night

Adult extra:                 US$116.00 per person per night

Children (3-12 years)  US$61.00 per child per night

1 Bedroom Suite

Single Occupancy:       US$200.00 per person per night

Double Occupancy:    US$131.00  per person per night

Adult extra:                 US$126.00 per person per night

Children (3-12 years)  US$66.00 per child per night

Group Concessions (10 rooms minimum)

One room for every 25 paid adults, maximum 4 rooms
Suite upgrade for group leader subject to availability

1st child in room free (2 children sharing with 2 adults)

So, it sounds to me like if you have 25 adults who book through the resort, you can get your room for free.  If not, you get the room upgrade.  I contacted Angelly Arias, and her email address is:  sales.jamaica@fiestahotelgroup.com.  In order to get the free room, there is a form that each of your guests has to fill out and email back to her, so make sure you contact her if you are interested in going this route.

Hope this helps!

Canadiangirl,

I'm sorry I am just now replying....I didn't even see your post for some reason.  I think I missed it in all of the pretty flower pictures!  Haha!  My True Colours package is the Island Deluxe package and is $1400.  It includes the bride dressing, the ceremony, and the formals.  It is for 2.5 hours of service, digital proofing, 150 images on disc with print permission, and a sunset shoot (if available).  When Judine w/ True Colours called me (immediately after I emailed them) she offered to upgrade the package and include and extra 30 minutes to get the grooms "dressing" (meaning pics of him and his guys in their room, probably drinking a beer...haha), and all of our images on disc instead of just 150 (to avoid us spending a day of our honeymoon trying to pick only 150 photos) for an extra $150.  We have the option of adding the TTD shoot for $300.  I am still undecided on that.

But, the rate you received sounds great.  Which photographer gave you that rate and what does it include?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
