Thanks ladies!  I don't know what I would have done without this site, so I'm just hoping I can help someone as well.  Plus, with the wedding over, I have nothing else to do except working on this --> smile02.gif  LOL

Have you guys been reading the recent reviews on Trip Advisor? For some reason I find it hilarious haha. The resort manager has a rebuttal to everything, even kind of nasty at times! Not professional .... worries me that if I have a bad experience, they won't take any responsibility!

But for the most part, I know that the bad reviews are just bitter people ranting. We experienced a few minor issues when we stayed there in 2010 and they were just that, MINOR! We didn't let them ruin our vacation.

If anyone wants to read my review that I wrote after we got back, it's here:

Question for you ladies, are you having a welcome dinner/ rehearsal dinner at the resort?  I want to have dinner with all of our guests the night before the wedding, and since we have over 20 people, the only restaurant that we can choose is Poseiden (sp?), the seafood restaurant.  My wedding planner originally told me that I need to book the dinner 2 weeks ahead of time, but now she is saying to wait until I get to the resort.  The thought of not having a reservation ahead of time makes me nervous.  Especially since I am sure that the other 9-10-11 weddings will be planning the same sort of dinner, and they will most likely have over 20 guests.  Does anyone have more information on this?  Can I make the reservation before we get there?

Thanks!

Hey hindsmor,

I don't have specific info on your hotel in regards to your question but I wanted to touch on the idea/concept of a welcome dinner. I did one for my guests and I have to tell you it was one of the most fun things that we did. Everyone came in on different days and it was our first chance to really get everyone together in a room, thank them for flying thousands of miles and for taking time out of their lives to be with us on such a special week. I think it meant a lot to people. This is where we also presented our wedding party with personalized shirts that said "Best Man/MOH/Bridesmaid/Groomsmen" with sayings on the back as well as their names. It got everyone really excited for everything and I was really happy that we did it. It also gave us a chance to introduce everyone in the wedding party and their relation to us. Since the big day is all about the two of you (as it should be), this gives you an opportunity to shout out your wedding party and just give an overall "Thank you so much for coming, it means the world to us" type of gratitude to all of your guests. Hope that helps a little!

I know.  I was originally told I could book ahead of time, but then was told I had to wait until I get to the resort.  I'm planning on having a rehearsal dinner but I've told the family we might just be stuck at the buffet.

Wedding dec 3 Have almost 30 people booked and have not sent out invitations yet. (sending 150 out tomorrow) Does resort lower resort prices with larger group? Not sure what to do for reception..... Was thinking extended cocktail hour..... Our friends and family are easy going. Travel agent quoted us 125 for room with 2 guest and is booking all separate flights for guest with no discount.... Normal? We are using liberty travel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
