Hello All.  We are downloading our music ourselves and using a Bose system to play the music (the sound quality is quite good).  Any advice on what sorts of music to download for during dinner?  Have any past brides done it this way? If so did it work out well?

As for OOT bags. My fiance and I have ordered personalized beach totes and insulated travel mugs for all our guests.  We thought long and hard about it and the easiest thing for us is to give them to everyone prior to leaving.  My mom and sister and Shawn's mom are throwing me one big shower.  Since everyone will already be together in one spot, I am going to hand out the items to the females of each family/couple who is attending the wedding.  Anyone who is unaccounted for we are going to pay them a visit to deliver theirs.  I know it is not as personable (and maybe almost tacky) as handing them out in Jamaica, but if we are not careful we are going to have a million suit cases to check LOL!

Anyone who is in Ontario, Canada and looking for a company to deal for personalized things, the company we have dealt with has been amazing! I sales rep is listed below:

We're also planning on doing the music ourselves using an ipod and Bose speaker!  Haven't thought much about the music itself yet .. but I do know that we'll probably have some playlists set up. One for "during dinner", one for "Special dances", one for "dance party" .. etc... So that we can just play the playlist and no one has to worry too much about manning the ipod 24/7.

Hey girls! I'm confused! I am going to have the Steel Drum Band for the ceremony. Do I still need to choose this music? I thought the band would just play before/during/after. For the hour or whatever. But regular music is played too?  :S

Omeshia sent me the music request form, and they are asking that we have songs for:

Processional (Normal, and of course we already had our song selected for this)

Bridal March (Normal and selected)

Kiss of the Couple- here is where I'm confused- see note below

Signing of Documents- not sure what song we want here and need suggestions- see note below

Recessional (Normal and selected)

Here is the issue.  We have already selected songs for the seating of the guests, processional, bridal march, and recessional.  The recessional song is a special song for us.  I spoke to Omeshia about this today, and she said they play the kiss of the couple song after the officiant says "you may now kiss the bride" and play it for the kiss of the couple, then stop the song.  Doesn't that seem like a very short amount of time to play a song?  She said they then stop the music and we will walk over to sign our documents, and they will play that song.  She said that we do not even need to do a recessional, or select a recessional song if we do not want.

So, do we use our recessional song for the signing of the documents?  Or do we pick a playful, more "jamaican" style song for the signing of the documents.  I asked Omeshia if we have to pick a kiss of the couple song, and she said no, we do not have to, but they recommend it.  Is there something I am missing here?

Let me know your thoughts/ advice when you can. Thanks, ladies!!

Nope, everyone cut theirs off and got new ones the next day at the front desk.  No1 had any issues with this.

You don't have to choose the music if you don't want to, but they give you the option.  We had specific/traditional songs that the Steel Drum Band played during the ceremony and then let them play whatever they wanted to before and after.

oooh, so the music you chose was music for the steel drum band? ah ok! I thought maybe it was music to play with the speakers/sound system.

Thanks for the replies girl!

So they allowed you to se the tables up however you wanted? Was this something that you discussed with the WC at your initial meeting at the resort? I assumed if I made any requests like that, that I probably won't be able to count on it going as I wanted. I just imagined giving the WC my place cards and seating chart, and having it all mixed up or totally not how I wanted it. But I should probabyl have a little more faith hey!

PS. What are escort cards?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
