Hi all,

I am getting married at the Atlantis in 3 months! I am having approx 70 people and have booked the Fathoms restaurant for our reception. I have hired Floral Arts for my flowers and decor/lighting, Stephen Bain for music/DJ, and www.haringphotography.com for my pictures/videography.

I was wondering if there were any brides out there who have had their hair and make up done at the spa at the Atlantis. I am really skeptical and don't want to have a cake face! Anyhoo, if you have gotten married there- I would love to see pictures!!!

Also, if you have any questions or need advice, I have been planning for almost a year and could probably offer some insight in the areas I have already booked.

Thanks!

Kim

Yeah, another Atlantis bride!  I'm interested to see the responses too.  I'm getting married at June 2011 and am worried about hair/makeup at the spa.  I'm less worried about hair - I was thinking about having my hairdresser at home test out styles and taking pictures to bring with me.  Surely someone can duplicate that right?  I do have 2 recommendations for makeup - one from my photographer and one from the wedding salesperson.  I haven't called either so i don't have info to pass along, but thought you might want to try.

This is the one from the Atlantis person:

Apryl Weech

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the one my photographer recommended but I have it at home and can post later.

My reception is also at Fathoms but we figure maybe 30-40 people will attend.  I'm using Wildflowers, Tim Alyen (photos), Jose Ageeb (DJ), and Matthew Sweeting (officiant).  I think all the big things are set, but I may ask some questions later.  Definitely post pictures of your wedding!

Kara- I chose Stephen Bain because I noticed he was used by alot of brides and is recommended by Wildflowers. When I googled him, his name came up in some bridal blogs so I figured that was a good sign.

I chose to go with Floral Arts because they quoted me a better price on everything. I send a mood board with flowers, table settings. etc so they were pricing off of the same pictures. For example, for the same exact chairs- Wildflowers quoted me a dollar higher than Wildflowers.

Also, Floral Arts was alot more responsive and helpful in answering my questions and finding out about exact details with the Atlantis on certain questionable requests I had.

Oops sorry, I meant to say that Wildflowers quoted me a higher price than Floral Arts...

How did you land on Jose Ageeb (DJ), and Matthew Sweeting (officiant)?

Here is the other makeup artist recommended by Tim:

Regina McCook

reginamccook@yahoo.com

Matthew Sweeting was on the Atlantis preferred vendor list and my salesperson raved about him.  Then I found all good news about him on BDW and checked his website and knew he was the one we wanted.  Jose was strictly a referral from this forum but Matthew and Tim's websites both had links to Jose's so that solidified my decision on him.  I met all the vendors on my site visit in October (except Jose who was out of town that weekend) and am happy so far.

Hey!

So I spoke to Stephan last night and we are gonna decide hopefully today if we are using Jose or Stephan. Tim recommended both but said Stephan really gets invovled..so we will see.

I am getting quotes from Floral Arts and Wildflowers.

For pre-travel mailers (going out 3 weeks before the wedding) we are sending luggage tags from plicards.com and rubber custom bracelets in a yellow or something bright so people can recognize each other around the resort or on the plane. We are also sending out a little "last minute reminder" card with did you make you dinner reservations? don't forget your passport..etc...vs. a brochure.

For the Welcome Bags we are doing bags like the steve maddenn ones...that cloth and putting maps of the atlantis,  custom water, frisbee, underwater camera and maybe one or 2 other things.

For the favors which will be given out at the welcome party or possibly the reception are either custom beach towels with tags saying "take me home" or atlantis candles that are custom to us at all..i find i throw all the custom stuff out eventually and find a lot of it cheesy.

Thats all my ideas for now. Any/All of yours are appreciated. :)

xo-

Kara

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
