Sandals St. Lucia Brides?

Recommended Posts

I am getting married on July 16 at St Lucia Regency! I am super excited! We have about 18 of us going. I am using the photographer that they have and then me and my sister are taking our really nice cameras to get some addtional ones. I didnt know about the $150 to get married before the 72 hours. I wish I would of known! I was worried about all the eating and sunburn before the wedding

Congrats Jamie!  You're wedding will be the day after mine :)  When are you flying in?  If you haven't booked your flight yet, maybe you could change your days and not have to get there so far ahead.  We decided to fly in on Tuesday, but that's still less than the 3 business days required.

Hi there!!

We are getting married at La Toc in December :) I am just now starting to get the logistics set up for this... any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Here's what we have decided so far:

We have about 15-20 people coming for sure so far, so we wanted to make sure they knew how much we appreciated their presence...so definitely the welcome dinner the day before the wedding..then wedding is at 4 on the beach, cocktail hour while we mingle and take pictures, then dj and we decided to do the private reception since there aren't going to be a ton of people it wont be too expensive. This way we can also do the more traditional stuff such as dances and what not.

As far as the actual ceremony though, any ideas on what to add on? They will have chairs out there, so we were thinking about having some color fabric or ribbon on the chairs to add some color to the white. Ive been reading that they wont let anyone go set up, is this the case?? I dont want to have to pay them to do it because I think my mom could make it look much better than they could (no offense) but I want to make sure this will be allowed before we go get all of this stuff. We are just having the beautiful beginnings theme but I wanted to add my own touch to it too...

I'm kinda lost on how to start planning a wedding, so any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!!

Congrats!  They  do charge you a setup fee..I think it's $250.  I think the plain white chairs are pretty, but if you really want to add something, you would have to buy it through Sandals or pay the fee.  You could always add an arch or flower petals for the aisle.  We are doing the BB, but we upgraded to the chic and natural arch ($350) and the island paradise bouquet.  We are also getting married at 4, and we are having the steel drum band, which will play into the cocktail hour (while we take pictures).  We are doing the 2 hour dinner at 6.  I'll let you know how it goes...only two weeks!

Hi!  I just booked our wedding for June 2012 at the La Toc.  I had no idea you could pick specific items to upgrade to, thanks for that info on this thread!  It will just be the two of us, getting married at 3pm on the 14th then going offsite with an awesome photographer for pictures.  http://mikaellamber.blogspot.com/

I would love to see photos of the ceremony after some of you get married for ideas!

Hi WilsonJ2 and ladies! Looks like you are arriving today!! Congratulations!! My FH and I are getting married at the Grande April 14, 2012 and simply can't wait!! Please update us on how everything went and any suggestions you have for us!! I did attend my best friend's wedding at Beaches/Sandals Negril last year and it was amazing. Stress free, fun and beautiful. The in house photographer did do an excellent job. We are getting married on a Saturday and arriving on Wednesday and are also paying the $150 fee.We are also doing the sunset ceremony, which was an extra $600, so I hope it is as beautiful as I think it will be. I have to say Sandals has been awesome to work with... very nice, helpful, lots of options, and not pushy. The only problem I have faced has been ridiculous negativity from his family about our decision to have a destination wedding. They seem to think that despite the fact that they aren't contributing anything and we are paying for this ourselves (and they are very successful) that we (mostly they are blaming me,though) are just selfish and they are refusing to come. The fact is, we tried to do the big."traditional" thing and we can't afford it! It has just been so upsetting to the point where I don't care if they decide not to come. We always all got along great until we stood up to their unreasonable demands. I just feel bad for him that he has to be tortured this way. Have any of you experienced this? I just feel so frustrated when all I want to feel is excited!! Good luck everybody!!

Hi!  We did the 4:00 ceremony and it was still really hot...it cooled down considerably by the sunset time, so that should be perfect and well worth the extra money if you have it.  I would also suggest not flying in too many days before the wedding.  We flew in on Tuesday and got married on Friday...too many days.  My dress fit perfectly before I went and I gained a bit of weight before the wedding, even though I was eating pretty well.  I wish we had flown in on Wednesday.  Also, it is a bit stressful, and you will not really get to enjoy your vacation until after the wedding is over.

Just a resort tidbit--Pigeon Island National Park is right beside the resort.  You just walk down the beach, past the guard, and into the park. Please go take pictures in the ruins there!  They are literally a two minute walk.  I wish we had known, but we only ventured out after the wedding.

Don't worry about his family.  You'll find out that the people who really want to be there will come, and those are the people you would want anyway!  My family was hesitant also at first, but they had the time of their lives.  Just keep telling them you want them to have a nice vacation, which I'm sure you do! cheesy.gif

Review to come...I don't have any pictures yet, but hopefully I will soon.

Hello! First of all congratulations of being a newlywed! I am just so curious to hear about your experience? My fiance and I are about to tonight book our wedding for next summer. I am just curious how your experience was? Were you happy with everything? Did you get one of the Martha Stewart Packages?  I am just wondering because we have been engaged for three years and have been deciding through many venues and not just St. Lucia but many islands. We just want to make sure we are making the right decision. Let me know thank you so much. Again congratulations!

I think that it is wonderful that you are doing what you want. My fiance and I knew that we wanted a destination wedding. Our expenses for a destination are turning out to be more than a local wedding. However, we did not care. This is what we wanted and regardless of who attends we want it to be about us and no one else. So I think you should do the same. Getting married is about the union of two people. You and your fiance don't worry about anyone else! How has your experience been with sandals thus far. If you don't mind me asking how many people are you having? What package did you choose? What was your cost per night because I feel like it keeps going up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much and congratulations!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
