HELP! Transporting LARGE Quantities of Stuff Over...

Recommended Posts

I also like the going away party idea!  If that fails, we'll deliver in advance.  We have a lot of people too, 60, so may need some help from the parents in delivery :)

JR14 - what airline are you flying with? I think we are with Sunwing, but need to double check with our TA.  I will see if she has any advice on extra luggage with them.  not only do I have the OOT bags, but stuff for the wedding too.

PBP - I'll have a lot of wedding stuff also!  I'm flying with Air Transat/Nolitours, I'll do the same and ask my TA.  Its SO EASY to get carried away with adding little handy cute items into the OOT bag that it adds up *both in weight and $$$$ LOL

Regarding the party - I think I'm going to try to convince my Mom to throw a Bon Voyage BBQ so I can hand out the OOT bags to those that can come and give any extras for my relatives who won't be able to make it.  We depart on Victoria day Monday, so something on the Saturday would be perfect!!

Many hotels do not let bride's ship large cargo/boxes beforehand *so I've read*.... but it might be worth asking your WC at the resort.

The alternative would be to fly down with your large bins and boxes and just pay extra luggage fees, it might work out cheaper than getting stuck with overweight luggage fees!  or try spreading the items/bags with your parents and wedding party

If you are planning to hand out things at the airport - maybe you could just hand out the mugs and then save the bags for when you get there since most of the other stuff in the bag will probably be easier to pack/smaller than the mugs.  This way they can all have their mug for coffee at the airport or a mug for beer for the bus ride to the resort.  The people who are not travelling with you can get their mugs when you arrive, but that is WAY less mugs to pack and you still get to give the welcome bags to all your guests at the welcome dinner.  This might also help with the dilemma of guests having to find space in their bags for the welcome bag you give them as they can throw the mugs in their carry on!  Just a suggestion!

The problem isn't just the mugs because my OOT bags are paper suitcases so they are large as well. I'm trying not to obsess about it for another ten days when I have my final count. My genius bridal mule plan may not work because the airlines that normally don't charge baggage fees for International travel have just changed their rules. Thanks American! I will make sure to tell you how it turns out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
