DO I DARE plann a CINCO De MAYO WEDDING???...HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

@Maritza919 - We are kind of in the same boat. I think in the beginning I was so concerned about making a wedding date based on everyones schedule.  I knew I wanted a 2012 but didnt really care about the month. I just wanted good weather, so why not May, right.  But, when I started throwing it out to my family I there were a lot of groans about it. My Brother is in colllege so that would be the start of his Final Exams so he would be a ball of stress and probably would not be able to take his exams early.  My sister would be in high school so May would be probably be around her prom season. So I just didnt want to it to be so hectic for my immediate family.  Now I'm thinking more of a June, July or August date.

@jetsettinbride. Have you thought about April? I know it's with Easter and everything but it'll be fine. I told my other brother who is in college when he signs up for that semester try to not have a Friday class. Or he'll have to take off that day and just come for the long weekend.. He'll miss Friday and Monday class if he has. Plus I think they'll understand hopefully if his sister is getting married. I'm the only sister :) the school ends late in June so we'd have to do it in July and I though it'd be really hot so we decided on April. It's so hard to try and pick a date with everyones schedules in mind. At the end of the day I'm like this is our wedding it shouldn't be hard lol. Hopefully you find a date and place. Good luck!

Thanks Maritza!  Well I ruled out March and April b/c of Spring Breakers. As well as other people planning spring break trips with for their families.   So i know iwth June, July and August will definitely be the hottest months to have a wedidng but I would definitely only have the ceremony at 4pm or later.  Yes I cant wait to have a date done and confirmed. I believe half of the stress would be over with it.

I can understand. I thought a dw would be easier to plan but it's harder! My hotel is small and is more boutique so I had thought of that until my mom said thT spring breakers would not be coming to my hotel for a wedding. Its also the hotel your staying at as well. Good luck with your search!

it may be busy, I would do it another day because I want the focus to be on my wedding not with all the holiday things they might have planned

As far as Cancun goes, I thought it may be sort of cool to have my wedding on Cinco de Mayo (May 5th).  Have any of you heard of any other brides doing an actual Cinco de Mayo wedding in Mexico? If so, how did id turn out? Or would you not advise this.

I did Google holidays observed in Mexico and May 1st is Labor Day in Mexico and May 5th is Cinco de Mayo, but not Mexico's actual Independence Day, which that is celebrated on September 16th. So it appears that Cinco de Mayo is more celebrated in the USA rather than Mexico.

I have read threads were other BW Meixco Brides accidentally planned their wedding day on a National Holiday in Mexico and I didnt want to do the same.

On one hand this could be a really fun day to do it with a built in theme or this could be probably not the best day to do so since the whole country may be partying so it may  be harder to book a Photographer , DJ and other vendors>>>  Thoughts???

Thanks BrideMoka. Yes, I decided against a Cinco de Mayo wedding.  My brother would be in the middle of Final Exams for college and I dont want him to be stressed during my wedding weekend.  So I'm looking at alternative dates.  Also, as you stated about it being a busy weekend where a  lot of other tourists may be flying in to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
