Sorry to hear about your dad :( That's too bad. 90 people is insane! That's the biggest DW group I've heard of. It's gonna be a great time.

Good luck to the rest of you ladies! It's amazing how time has flown by. I hope to get a chance to check in before we leave (at 3 AM on Saturday), but if not, have a blast! Thanks for all of your support over the past year!

We leave in 3 days for Toronto, and married 1 week today! Ahhhh! So excited!

Going to finishing my packing in the next 2 days, and then... relax!

Had a stressful evening last night, had 2 wakes to go to and dinner with my Dad, where he proceeded to tell me (1 week before the wedding) that he's not coming, can't be around my Mom. Oh well his loss. We've got 90 ppl coming and the rest would miss it for their life!

Ladies Ive been doing all wedding things every single day!! Finally finished my OOT bags with goodies and welcome letters, I am debating on a slide show as I am too lazy to get the photos from my future MIL and my own mom but a BM has volunteered to help me out with this. Mostly we are working on getting the final things we need ie (FI needs a shirt for his suit!, swimming trunks, i just ordered more bathing suits, because i love bathing suits lol). But seriously it seems that everyday something has to be done whether its paying off some wedding bill, finalizing details with WC or straight out packing ....oh my can't wait

JandG,

I really am sorry to hear about your dad. It seems we are having similar disappointments.

I could really your advice and that of other brides after the extremely disappointing day I had today.

Earlier today was our legal ceremony and after thinking long and hard we asked my dad for his wife not to come to this ceremony. She has been hostile toward my sister and I since her and my father got engaged. Needless to say my father hasn't handled things the way he should have. I knew there was a chance he wouldn't show up but to make it worse, he emailed my sister to involve her. My bridesmaid-best friend and I were supposed to go to her house to get our make up done and dressed, she asked us not to come as she was too upset. Thanks to the kindness of my makeup artist, we got ready at her house! My sister also backed out of our small dinner tonight after the reception. It was really upsetting as we organized the dinner and ceremony to include my nephews and my brother as they aren't coming to Mexico. Then after our ceremony, my brother and his fiancee backed out of dinner too. So my now husband , my best friend and I had a small wedding dinner for three. So yes my father is coming to Mexico but now we have to decide how to tell them they aren't participating in anything. And my best friend is supposed to share a room with my sister. We leave in two days, my father flies out tomorrow and we are beside ourselves on how to handle this. The good news is that my husband's family from Scotland will be there. Sadly for now, I have to sever ties with my family. lt and painful on a day that should have been a happy occasion. You ladies usually have words of wisdom. Any comforting thoughts or words would be appreciated.

I'm really sorry you have to go through this, especially this close to your wedding.  I think that everyones emotions run high around weddings and most times that not good.  Its really unfortunate that you have to sever ties with your family.  Just remember the only two people that truly need to be there are you and your fiance.  Anyone else is a bonus.  Try to make the best of the day.  And remember you will be getting married to the man of your dreams in Mexico and starting a beautiful life together as husband and wife!  Good luck with everything!  I know you will have a magical day that will be perfect no matter who is there.

AM,

I'm so sorry to hear of your dilemma. I know how difficult it is. If your Dad and his wife coming would make any problems for you, or others that you care about uncomfortable then you have to do what you feel is best. I think Jay Kay said it best, It's about you and your FI. You don't need any extra drama.

This is probably going to be my last post before we leave, as I have so much stuff still to do!

Thank you all for your words of wisdom and guidance! I hope your day is all you dreamed about and more!

"See" you in the new year, and a new life!

Jamie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
