January 2012 Brides!

Hi Avens,

Where are you moving from? I live in Edmonton! Maybe we can get together and talk or help eachother with wedding stuff:) We actually went yesterday to Derks on the southside of Edmonton and bought linen pants for the groomsmen, more pricey then we thought but they are good quality, Perry Ellis. My fiance is going to get the suit, pants and jacket so he sticks out. They are ordering their shirts from Marks and Spencer in the UK because he is from Scotland and two of his groomsmen still live there...also amazing quality.

We are getting married January 4, 2012, Dreams Tulum. Good luck with your move to Edmonton. I am doing quite a few DIY projects so maybe we can swap ideas!

Take Care!

That's when FH heads west to start his job), trying to finish my thesis and a million other things.  Ack! I am hoping to buy some cute beach bags, I haven't made it to dollorama or liquidation world yet to check it out.

Hi January Brides!

We are getting married January 4th, 2012, at Dreams Tulum, any other DT brides?

I have a question for you? I am thinking of making my own aisle runner, the hotel wants to charge 100$ to rent theirs and it is sand color and not that appealing. I can make my own for 40-50$ and it will be personalized and I might be able to use it back home when we renew our vows in our church. Michael's has aisle runners, fabric ones but I am wondering if they will be durable enough. Any thoughts? It isn't that heavy but will take a bit of room in my suitcase.

I am making my own fabric pomanders, look really nice, light and cheap and will save money on flowers! Let me know if you want to see pics, I did post them in another thread.

Welcome! I'm getting married the day after you :) I'd say if you are crafty, go for it! You know that you don't like what the resort is offering, so you might as well give it a shot!

I am not getting married at DT but that is where we are going after our wedding for our mini honeymoon!

I had not planned on on using an aisle runner, but if i were you i would bring my own, if it will save you $50 and you can reuse it home!

Yay Edmonton Friend! I'm moving from Winnipeg, probably the end of Sept or early October.  That sounds like a lot of fun, especially since I may have lots of time on my hands as we're moving for FH job, and I don't have one yet!

In the final hour I picked the Barcelo Maya Palace over Dreams Tulum, really the only decided factor was that we wanted somewhere bigger so people could still have their own vacations (at least two friends are coming on their honeymoons to our wedding).;  That's almost to bad, we would have been there at the same time likely, we leave for Mexico on the 7th!

I found groom pants, and groomsman outfits  the other day as well.  Initially he tried on the $200 linen pants at Harry Rosen, then I happened to go to Le Chateau (for Canadian Brides) and they have all of their linen summer stuff on clearance.  FH actually liked the Le Chateau ones better!   Now we just need to find a white long sleeved light shirt for him.  We found the groomsmen shirts there too.  Here's the Best Man, and a bridesmaid checking him out (conveniently they started dating a while ago. Lol).  They also have some deal with now where if you buy so much clearance stuff you get some free. So we got 3 shirts and 3 pants (plus pants and a pashmina for me) for $200. I suggest you check it out if your still looking!

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey there January 2012 Brides!!!! How has everyone's summer been going??? Things have slowed down on here. I thought I would check in and see how everyone's planning is going. So far we are at 28 adults and 3 children, our RSVPs are due Sept. 1st so waiting to see how many more replies and "bookers" we get. I've been working on some DIY projects a little bit this weekend, trying to get some of that stuff on the go before things start to get crazy and I run out of time. I guess the next step of planning for me is waiting to hear from the wedding planner to start picking stuff and finalizing details. Yay for some planning!!! Hope everyone else's summer has been going good and planning as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
