January 2012 Brides!

Hi Ladies,
I too am getting married in January 2012! January 7th to be exact.  So far, I have booked the trip in the lovely jamaica, at the breezes trelawny resort.  We have also ordered all of the attire for Myself, my FI, and the wedding party.  We have purchased linnen suits custom ordered from www.studiosuits.com  By the time we had added on all of the custom details his suit came to 149.00 (Shipping and taxes included).  It was a great deal, and the suit looks GREAT! We have also ordered shot glasses that have our logo lazer printed onto them!
So far, we have 63 booked (including us).. which is making the price for us climb as well with the reception dinner, we are paying 20 per head for a dinner with all of the guests (which everyone tells us not to because the resort is AI)

Good luck with quitting smoking, Liz! It sounds like you are super busy, but I'm sure you will be able to stick with it!

I hear what you are saying about the shoes. When does your dress come in? If it is at the end of summer, you might be able to find shoes on sale. My dress should be in within the next month or so, but I want to get shoes in the same shade as my bridesmaid dresses, so if I see those anywhere I am going to have to snatch them right away! I imagine cobalt blue shoes are pretty rare!

What are you doing for your wedding workout and diet? School's almost out (I'm a teacher), and I'm going to start P90x at the beginning of the summer.

Next wedding projects: OOT bags and getting my invites out! A girlfriend of mine is a graphic designer and she's designing our passport invites. Can't wait!

Hope everyone elses planning is going well :)

Sounds like your planning is coming along great!  Wow, 63 people, thats awesome.  I know the extra cost at an all inclusive resort seems weird and people dont understand, but its because usually they have to have extra staff on the deal with the big group so you can get the proper service you need and expect!

I was feeling some anxiety reading this! Wow, sounds like a crazy few weeks!

Congrats on quitting smoking!!

Recently I was online and checking out prices for our resort and found a rate from the same company we are using that was 200 dollars cheaper.  I called my TA and she called them and got our price lowered by 200 per person which is awesome! Every little bit helps,  Plus we found out we have enough people to qualify for one free trip which is even better!!

I'm really stuck on what to do for shoes as well.  Im not a heels person so I want some fancierish flip flops that dont look like cheap flip flops.  I have small feet so its been a real challenge to find some in the right size.  When do you get your dress?  Mine wasn't supposed to arrive until August but It came in and I picked it up just the other weekend!!

I'm also FINALLY done school for the summer!! So excited, yet I have been working every day so far! Oh well, money is always welcomed!

Glad to hear everyones planning is coming along!

We had a few crazy stessful days....Smart me decided to quit smoking on move in day, so that created a few stessful moments between me and FI, but we got through it....Verizon decided not to show up to connect my cable on our appt day....so they really got the wrath of Liz...lol!!! But all is good now, we got cable, AND we are back to sleeping in the same bed after almost a month of me in PA him in NJ, then us both in NJ but him on the couch and me in spare room....Yipee!!!

So now for the wedding stuff.....Talked to WC provided through the TA again....she is ready to rock with getting all the paperwork done. I just need FI to go get his NJ license and we can start. Room rates at Beaches have gone up about $150 since we booked, but airfare has also gone down about that much so  guess it all equals out in the end :(

I have been looking for shoes to go with my dress lately, i know i want gold, but i dont really remember what my dress looks like 100%. Im also not sure if i want big heels, little heels, or flats....ugh desicions, desicions. This kind of sucks because i want to buy shoes soon, since it is summer here, and i want to make purchases gradually. Also, we have a bunch of Outlet Shoping Plazas here, and just an FYI, Perry Ellis has beautiful suits/seperates for the boys at very, very resonable prices...If you have one by you definitly check it out!!

I also mentioned i quit smoking....ugh...It's going good, and Monday starts Wedding Diet & Wedding Workout!!! Bring it on Baby!!!

What's up with everyone else???

Kya congrats on finding your dress and Liz on quitting smoking. I quit 2 1/2 years ago and sometimes I still struggle staying a quitter. Hang in there, stress will make you want to go back. I just had one of those weeks where is was so close to smoking. It's funny you guys are talking about shoes, I'm having the exact same dilemma. My mom keeps reminding me it's summer here and the shoes won't be in stores for much longer and summer just started!!! I'm thinking of getting some really fun shoes, but they will probably be flats because my FI isn't much taller than me and my dress is super tight to walk in. I'm not a heels kinda girl and don't want any accidents. My wedding planner just sent me a whole list of things to take care of, cakes, decorations, food. I just wish I could sample some of it before going down for the wedding.

Hi muzikgrrl!

Have you considered barefoot jewelry for your wedding? I saw you mentioned flats so I thought I'd throw it out there :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
