You can ask me :) my wedding is in April so I don't have answers to everything but can work through your questions with you. Have you already read tge moon palace brides 2012 thread or the wedding reviews? There is an overwhelming amount of info there. When is your wedding? Do you have any elderly guests? From what i've read the resort IS big but the locations really aren't that far away from anything and they have golf carts to help with the guests if you need it. what chapel are u refering to? I know they have a gazebo specifically reserved for religious ceremonies...so maybe you are booked in the chapel you're referring to? Take a deep breathe and know everything will be fine! I'm with you that my. Wedding coordinator has been awesome. ...previous brides had so many issues with this step and everything turned out perfectly for them so we should be all set! Good luck and let me know what other questions you have
Hi and many congrats Stef!! When is your wedding in April!? I cannot wait to hear all about it!!! I did look at the map and the gazebo/chapel (have not confirmed which I will get) seems to be near the sunrise section but I am not sure how long that is actually walking etc. I will probably end up asking my wedco to make it as close as possible because I do have some elderly guests. How big is your wedding? I will have 40 or less but it is still overwhelming to me. I read a lot of the information on the 2012 thread, so much is on there! That is where I got idea to bring my own reception decorations for the most part, because it is all adding up!! Are you doing anything special at your reception? I read about fire dancers and am seriously considering it! Sorry I have so many questions, my wedco has me pumped! Would love to hear all about your planning if u have time :)

H

Hey Ladies,  Were getting married in September 2013 and have been reading through a lot of posts. I'm from the UK and have read A LOT of american & canadian brides are actually legally getting married before they arrive in Mexico. I am now considering doing this as the costs and process for getting our birth certificates legalised and translated are quite a lot - its only a total of £125 to do it all in the UK before we go...we'd maybe do it a few days before we go. We don't wanna tell guests really either. Whats you're thoughts? Also, in the symbolic wedding, are there any admin costs??  Also, we wont need to do the blood tests either.  One more question - can you therefore make up your own vows? Cheers,  Charlene x x
Hi Charlene, Many congrats on your September wedding! I also am getting married before my wedding in August and have received my invoice for my symbolic ceremony. I did not see any admin costs on there! Also, my uncle is a minister and they are allowing him to officiate our ceremony, so it will likely not be a problem doing your own vows. I just gave my WC a heads up and she noted it on our invoice. Hope this helps!

Also have u seen a map of the property? Just Google image it, it will help with location decisions
Hi Stef, First- congrats on your April wedding!!!! You must be so excited and busy! I read a ton of reviews in the 2012 thread, but have not finished all of them so I may be asking questions I can find answers to on there. I only found two or three wedding reviews but they were all old, looking for more recent reviews. The chapel I am referring to is the one for religious ceremonies, But we may end up in a gazebo, I am still trying to confirm. My WC did move our reception to the Tucan Terrace which I read is close to the Gazebo and also saw on the map as being right by a gazebo, so I think if it moves to the chapel I will just ask my WC to change it to the closest terrace again, she is pretty awesome! Happy you also have a great WC, mine has sent me a lot of info so if there is anything I can help answer for anyone I am happy to do so! My biggest stressor right now is trying to figure out what add ons to get for our reception, we are having it on the Caribbean terrace and I was thinking Chinese lamps and otherwise am at a loss but reading other people's posts has been helpful :) I will let you know when I have more questions, trying to keep it together! Would love to hear about your plans if you have a moment, everyone has such lovely ideas!! Thank you again Stef!!

Thanks Shan! What about the cake... what did you pick for a flavor?? When they say "cheese" as an option, does that mean cheesecake?

You're welcome!! Yes they do mean cheesecake...but ask for Tres leche- it's not on the "list" of flavors, but they have it! It is amazing- at least what I ate of it- I never got an actual piece of cake but those that did said it was yummy! :)

We're going withe the International Buffet 2, and Mexican Buffet. We have almost 50% of our group that are vegetarians, so our options were a bit limited. I've read only good reviews about the "superior hor'deorves (sp?)" as well.

I think we decided to just do regular white cake, but I THOUGHT there was a tres leche option that I had previously heard good things about so I am definitely going to ask for that! If your wedding group is over a certain size do they automatically give you a second tier? Or do you have to specifically request/pay for that (we're doing the Pearl Shimmer package).

Also, check the desserts that come with your buffets…I think it was the International 2 buffet (?) but it came with mini strawberry AND "cheese" cakes…so we figured we'd get to sample those flavors anyways! Although, neither of us are big sweets people…we prefer to drink our calories! shots.gif

Does anyone happen to know how big the complimentary tables are? I think I've read before that they are 72x72 but I can't find that post anywhere, and I want to order overlays for the tables (I think I've decided on those versus table runners).

Also, did any previous brides get charged a set up fee if they asked for sashes to be tied on the chairs? I know there have been several posts about how much MP SAYS they charge per table, versus what they actually charge once you get there for the set up. From what I can tell, you can usually get away with not having to pay a fee if it is a simple set up…I'm wondering if the chair sashes crosses the line from "simple/free" to set-up fee.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
