Moon Palace 2012 Brides

We also go the groomsmens outfits!  Here is my FI wearing the shirt we bought for the 2 guys.  The pants will be the same as FI's which is a flat front light brown color slack.  We had to order their sizes as they didn't have them at the store.

I can't believe I didn't take a pic of FI in his wedding attire, but I will eventually!  :)

Congratulations SFedEsq !!

Just an FYI the catholic ceremony is only symbolic. I wanted to do that but we would have had to have and pay for a civil ceremony as well.  I was doing the catholic to please our parents, so we ended up going with a civil ceremony only. One of my most favorite parts of a friend's ceremony 5 years ago (Aventura Spa Palace) was how they signed their documents, witness' signed the documents and they did their thumb prints right in front of us. It was so beautiful and meaningful to watch because its not a typical part of a ceremony with JP or priest around here. I knew I wanted that part from the beginning!

Also, if you were to get married before leaving, I dont think the priest would marry you, it would be a JP. It was all very confusing, so we scratched it right away. I was a little bummed becuase the pictures of the Catholic Gazebo (a thread on here) were beautiful...and I believe it is air conditioned  Maybe someone who went through the catholic ceremony could clear up the logistics a bit further! I still havent picked reception locations yet. I have about 28 people booked. :)

In any event, I haven't done much concrete planning yet, but my fiance and I are pretty much set on Moon Palace. Hence, how I found this forum. Having skimmed some of the posts though it seems response times in the Miami office leave something to be desired, so I was hoping I could direct two big questions to you ladies and see if you can give me some clarity before we take any concrete steps with Moon Palace.

First, legal marriage in Mexico: I'm not so excited about this proposition for a variety of reasons. I see some couples choose a civil ceremony before they leave the states and have a symbolic ceremony at the resort. My fiance and I are planning on a Catholic ceremony. Can anyone tell me...If we are not legally wed in Mexico, can we still have a Catholic ceremony?

Now, the second hang up: I always envisioned an outdoor reception and I know Moon Palace has some fantastic outdoor venues. But, I'm marrying in to a very large family and what I thought would be a 30-50 person affair is looking more like it could easily be a 100-120 person affair. Are there outdoor venues at Moon Palace that can accommodate such a crowd? Or would we be relegated to one of the ballrooms on property?

From what I've read so far, this is an incredibly helpful exchange of information and ideas. If we ultimately settle on MP, I look forward to joining in the fun. Congratulations to all of you!

I spoke with Beatriz on Friday and we are still like 100 days out from our wedding. We really didn't get anything nailed down except for our next planning session on April 2. If you haven't already spoken with your coordinator you'll need to know your confirmation number for your reservation and you'll need to know how many guests you are expecting and number of rooms nights that you have, until then they won't reserve any events for you. Hence the reason we went ahead and scheduled another planning call. Also if you didn't know you and your FI rooms count towards your free events she did confirm that for me.

Now I was told by Lily back in the fall that we had the Bugambilias Gazebo confirmed but Beatriz said she wasn't sure of that. *lakjdlkfjlskdjfa;djkfl;adjf* censored.gif Wasn't happy to hear that at all!!!

As far as our TA issues go my FI called and complained to our TA's assistant and then I sent our TA an email expressing our disappointment in the lack of communication with our guests. She gave me the response of not having any messages from any of our guests. She did ask that I send their phone numbers and she would call them so I'm waiting to hear from them on whether or not she did.

As of Friday we had 41 room nights reserved, so we are slowly edging closer. Half of our wedding party hasn't book yet and we still have a few that have said they are going but we need to confirm with them. So it looks like we might be closer to the 60 nights than the 75 but I'll be happy with that. Our AHR is going to be the big blowout so it's all good to me.

SFedEsq - Congrats and Welcome!!

ladydi - Girl you have no idea about the AHR and all the troubles that I have had with my future MIL. We shall not even go there because there will be a lot of nasty words coming out of my mouth!! :) Now as for Mexico bring it on bc I'm so ready to just lounge by the pool and get my drink on!!!

Lee - FI's looking might fine in his threads!!

I love that color! Tommy Bahamas? I recognize that store. We've been in and out of there looking for outfits too. I'm surprised we don't run into each other more often, lol. Can't wait to see your FI's gear.

Thanks for the info! I booked my events with Lucy and I'm worried the info might not have been passed a long. I will be soo upset too if they can't confirm that. Glad your room nights are coming along though!

Good luck to you

My miami coordinator told me that she would charge me $200 to set up the things I bring down for the ceremony and reception since I will not bring a lot- just chair bows, table runners and my favors.  I still think that is outrageous, but at least it is not $200 per table! I now have to do some research and see if it will just be cheaper to rent everything rather than buy it and pay the $200 set up fee! I hate all these new rules! I hope the 2010 and 2011 brides realize how lucky they were! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
