WHAT!!?? I had specifically outlined this in an email with her and she goes, well I am sorry that was an error. I am so not happy! I argued a bit and she is "going to work on it" but I may be back to square one with dinner reservations and we are 5 weeks out.

Cross your fingers that she "can make it work." UGHHH!

I'm sorry to say this, but it makes perfect sense that they won't give you a free dinner reservation at the Caribbean Terrace.

The Caribbean Terrace is not a restaurant.  It basically a bar and lounge area on a Terrace that is above El Caribeno restaurant.

The only way to have dinner served up there is if you book and pay for a full private event.  They would literally have to set up and cater a full dinner event for you up there.

And even if you qualify for unlimited free events by getting the 75+ rooms nights through your group, you would most likely have to pay $12 per person extra for the set up fee because its an upstairs Terrace with no elevator.

If Ivis had previously confirmed you could have a dinner reservation up there without booking a full private event, she was clearly mistaken.  Is she just a Miami contact?  I can't imagine she would even confirm this type of information unless she had no clue about what she was talking about?

The free dinner reservation (for 35 guests) applies only to the actual restaurants on the property...and only some of them are eligible, depending on the size of the party.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Caribbean Terrace is not a restaurant, and I'm not sure why anyone told you they would allow a free dinner reservation up there?  Seems odd?

There is a lady who started a page on face book that is  "Palace resort brides past present and futute"... I have heard some of this info off that page.  For the most part I get all the info from you girls, which is very helpful and thats why I post just making sure that what I understand to be correct, is....  Im not going to worry about the additional charge for the ceremony being for more than 35 people....

As far as the room goes... Did you book with Palace Resorts directly?  My TA didnt tell me anythign about paying for the room up front.  She just recieved an email on this... So we will see what she says.

Also, if you have a group contract and qualify for free events you DO NOT have to pay for your free events (I posted this a while back stated from a MP contact) you do pay for your room and that is what gets reimbursed about a month later. Hope this help

Thank you!

There is not a 35 guest limit for the ceremony. They will not charge you for guests over 35. Most of the ceremony locations can easily handle 120 guests or more. No extra charges.

As far as the free private events for 75+ room nights goes, you should not have to pay for the events ahead of time. Many of us had this question/concern and it has been confirmed by a wedding coordinator and posted in this thread, you will NOT have to pay for the events ahead of time and wait for a refund. If you qualify for the free private events by getting 75+ room nights, you can book events without paying ahead of time.

If you have your room booked through the resort, and not a 3rd party TA, you will most likely need to pay for your room in full, and then will get refunded the free 7 nights post travel. It usually takes a few weeks or more.

I would too be frustrated about having little to no contact 70 days out. I specifically flew to MP 15 months before our wedding date in order to meet with a coordinator in person and lock in our locations right then and there.

I would not be worried about an extra seating charge for more than 35 guests. That 35 persons limit only applies to the dinner reservation, which is not even needed if you qualify for unlimited free events.

Yes, I origionally wanted the upgraded chivarri chairs but after seeing that they were going to charge me not only for the chairs at the ceremony with a total of  $350, but also charge me the $350 AGAIN for the dinner, I decided that I would just stick to the chairs that are FREE!!!  LOL

Who doesnt love FREE!!!

And Jamie.....  Thank you for your response too!!!

As always thank you all for your posts and i cant wait to see how all your weddings turn out!!!  Im getting close myself!  All last night I dreampt about my wedding!!!  Im getting soooo excited!

Hi!

Just curious, why are you marrying at Sun Palace and not staying there? I am going down tomorrow for a site inspection and am going to look at Palace Resorts :) I though about having my wedding at Beach Palace, but the wedding coordinator didn't seem too thrilled?

There is a party of 100 at Grand that day, you cant tell me they didn't know this 1,2,3 Months ago!! So I want a beach wedding so what does she suggest!!! A different section (not on the beach)  the cocktail reception by the chapel (not on the beach) and my dinner at a completly different resturant than we had settled on!

HI Caleche-

I'm assuming your message was to me.  We are not staying at Sun Palace for a few reasons.  My fiance doesn't like the "hotel" effect of Sun Palace- he likes how the rooms are set up at Moon Palace, so it doesn't feel like you are staying at a hotel.  Also, we are expecting a group of about 40 people coming and I felt like people had more options of stuff to do at Moon Palace over Sun Palace.  Sun Palace is more of a couples only resort and not a Party type of resort that my friend will be looking for.  If it were just me and my fiance going, I would definetly be staying at Sun Palace! :) Hope this helps!

Have fun- I'm jealous! Please take lots of photos! If you go to Sun Palace could you please take lots of pictures of the terraces?  The photos the miami contact are hard to see and it's hard to get a "feel" for the different options.

Thank you!!! :)

I'm just curious about this "Ivis" person?

Is she a Miami contact?

Is she an actual on-site wedding coordinator at Moon Palace?

Or is she part of this new position they invented, where she is a 'wedding planner' for Moon Palace, but not really an on-site coordinator?

How can she be seemingly dropping the ball on so many different things for some many brides as their wedding date approaches?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
