Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Every day I check the weather it changes. But it just seems to be rain the whole week I am down there, thus far. If I know Mexico, most of it will be like 1 hour showers in the afternoon, then clear skies. The only thing I'm worried about is that all my events are outside and there's going to be tons of mosquitos out right after the rain...ugh. Oh well. 6 days until I leave!!!!!! yay

I have 30 days left exactly and just received my final PO last night thankfully.

Anyone have location suggestions for rehearsal dinner and meet and greet?

How about telling my guests to just meet at the sunrise swing bar for the meet and greet? good or bad idea?

Also are people tipping their wedding planners and photographers and djs. how much?

Thanks ladies, cant do this without you

Curly -

I had my guests meet at swing bar and we had no trouble getting reservations for 23 that night and the next two nights we also had big group dinners never a problem and wih a big group they give you a waiter so it is just like a private reception.

We tipped our WC and her assistant $75 because she gave us two extra day passes for random people who booked the week of the wedding at other resorts, she looked the other way on my flowers...since I got Marvin who is fab! She also gave me instead of the complimentary bouquet, white pedals for our guests to throw at us. Super nice of her.

Del Sol worked things out so I didn't have to pay the vendor fee, we got them two day passes and I think we forgot to tip them :-(    Talk to Del Sol hopefully they can work out a deal with MP for others because my photos are fantastic!!!!!!!!! Coordinator also set up my decorations for me at the cocktail and dinner but I didn't have much. We danced in the dance area and it was fine, the guests (and the place was full with the dream trips) let us have two songs on the dance floor alone!

Check out Del Sol's photo's of our wedding!!! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=803

I posted my stuff for sale too if anyone is interested.

Whaat?!! I definitely did not get that information!

Ok I just wanted to give you ladies a little bit of a heads up.  We got here today at around noon, and I have been crying ever since.  It is awful. An absolute nightmare.  First of all, if you are booked in the Sunrise section- GET IT CHANGED ASAP!!!  This is a damn construction site.. literally.  The lobby was full of drilling, hammers & drywall dust.  Then our room wasn't ready because somebody was still in it.. so we were told it would be a "few hours".  So in the meantime, we were forced to listen to a TIMESHARE SALES PITCH by a pushy salesperson, pressuring us to meet him for breakfast tomorrow morning "for a quick information session".  Um, no thanks.

Then we were put in to a temporary room while we waited for ours, and we had to walk like half a mile THROUGH A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, complete with all of us getting construction dust in our eyes as we walked like 3 ft away from people drilling into the ground and laying concrete.  Nice.  The hallway of our section of Sunrise is covered in dust, nails, trash, and weird somewhat-skanky guests that look like they were given a free room in lieu of a free timeshare seminar.

Long story short, we raised holy hell to have us and all of our guests moved to Nizuc.  Thank God our families don't get here until tomorrow- I would have been mortified to have them see this.  I can't even describe how horrible it is.  Sitting here crying as I type this post.  This has been horrible.  This "dream wedding" I have been planning for the last 8 months has just crumbled in a matter of minutes.  I have been living & breathing this wedding, ensuring every detail is perfect.. this couldn't be any less perfect if it tried- it's the complete polar opposite.

Oh and we were starving so we went to for dinner at Bugambilia- and I can't convey how horrible it was.  Nasty, gelatinous old food.  I ate chips & salsa, my daughters had fries.  That's it.  I took a bite of one of the desserts and had to spit it out and thought I was going to puke.

I'll give more details later.. just wanted to tell you this in case you are coming here any time soon and are staying at Sunshine.  The guy at the desk told us that our travel agent would have been notified of the construction.. I don't know how true that is, but regardless, I'm pissed.  And sad.  God this is a nightmare.

Oh My. I am so sorry. I feel for you. This would be the thing to make me go Bridezilla postal. I'm glad you moved your reservation. You should try to sample a few meals at other restaurants and know which to eat at so when guests get there you can suggest the good spots and have them avoid the bad ones.

Breathe- have a glass of champagne (don't know if you drink lol) And think about your wedding. You have time to be a demanding diva and straighten them out before the actual wedding. You will be a beautiful bride. Your family is on their way. It will work out. I'm rooting for you cheer2.gif

Well ladies I JUST got my reimbursement check this week....it's only been almost 6 months since my wedding.  The last email I sent I threatened a lawyer and mentioned all the credit card fraud- I never received a response but a week later I got the check.  So ladies if you are getting the run around after the wedding I suggest threatening a lawyer!

I'm sorry to hear that! But you got the section changed, and your guests will never have to step foot through the construction zone, so no worries! Time to relax and have a margarita and enjoy MEXICO!!!! Your wedding day will be amazing and you will have a great time! I can't wait to hear more about your wonderful day and see pics! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
