Great and detailed review. Sorry for your bad experiences, many of which mirrored mine. It sucks, but it's a little validating (for us and probably for you) to see that others had similar experiences.

Yes for sure.  I don't feel so alone knowing that I'm not the only one with a less than fabulous experience. Thanks Dan~

Great to hear- I was informed that I would be contacted by someone (they gave me her name, but I can't remember) but I haven't heard anything yet- so hopefully this week!

Thank you for your review.  Sorry to hear about all the problems you had, but glad that overall the wedding day was a success! I love all the pictures of the restaraunts and everything- I really appreciate your very detailed review.

We will be having a group of about 40 people- where doy ou recommend having the rehersal/welcome dinner or should we just use or unlimited events and have it on a terrace?

Also, what hidden fees/charges did you encounter?

Thank you!!

Hey Shan - we had 45 come to our wedding and we did private events. I would suggest you go that route if you have unlimited events. You get your own wait staff and bartenders and you don't have to wait in long lines for dinner. Our service both nights was outstanding.  We had our welcome dinner at the Tucan Terrace and it was perfect. Right on the ocean, a little windy because of that, but no bugs and kept it from being hot.

Most of the restaurants have slow service so if you take large groups be prepared to wait and for your dining experience to be slow.

We didn't have any hidden fees or charges. Your wedding coordinator should lay it all out before you get there if you have contact with them and if not ask how much stuff will costs and take all of your emails with you. Zaray told us that if she didn't give us a price then we would not be charged and that's exactly how it was. When using credit resorts if there's a tax you will be required to pay that and transportation if it's not included. We had to pay transportation to go deep sea fishing and it was separate from the payment for the boat. Be sure to take small bills when you go anywhere because they don't have change in most places and if they do they give it to you in pesos. We ended up tipping both our driver to the airport and the airport guy who took our baggage to the check in line in all pesos just to get rid of them before we came back home.

Well any of the larger restaurants I listed should be okay, but for 40, I would take advantage of the private setting and use my unlimited evens on a terrace or rooftop terrace. =)

Hey there Shan0487...  I have not heard anything regarding being reassigned. We last spoke with a supervisor at the Miami office about 2 months ago who reassured us we would be contacted but had to wait since our wedding was so far off and they had to deal with the most current brides :). we have about 4 months to go. I plan on reaching out 3 months before my date.

Ok, thanks for the recommendation- I will probably just do the private event route then- and just go with a different menu.  It will actually be thanksgiving, so maybe they will do somthing special for us! I'm not going to hold my breath- but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? Thanks you for the advise on the fee and small bills.  If you don't mind me asking how much $ n small bills would you recommend?

Curly- thank you for your input on the WC- hopefully we will hear soon! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
