Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

I used the spa for my hair and they did a great job.  I have heard good things about the makeup too! I would recommend going to the Spa at the Golf course for everything! :)

I just recently got back from my week at the Moon Palace resort in Mexico. I cannot say enough good things about this place or the staff. I got engaged my 2nd last night there and now looking to book my wedding next yr at the same place. If anyone on this site can help me out with advice, tips, do's and don't, that would be great thank you! Anyone thinking of booking a wedding, I can tell you I witnessed 5 the week I was there and it was absolutely beautiful. Thanks, Jason

Congrats!! We stayed at Moon and my wedding was at Sun- it was amazing!! My advice to you is to get a Travel agent to deal with all the bookings and to make sure you get the group benefits for room nights- that is one of the greatest perks Palace resorts offer- the great wedding benefits when you have a group of people attending your wedding!! If you have any questions at all feel free to Private Message me and I'd be happy to help! :)

Yes, there are super small ones in the Nizuc and Sunrise Lobby and then the big one is at the Golf Course! :)

You're welcome! And if you have more than 4 or 5 girls getting ready- she will probably set you up for the golf course as the golf course has 5 stylists and the Nizuc and Sunrise only have 2 or 3- we had 10 ladies getting their hair done so the golf course was the only option for me lol! And it's really nice and pretty and smells good!! And if you are doing a morning appt- they have breakfast in one of the restaurants so you can get food in between appointments- we actually "carried out" the food and brought it into the salon and ate haha.

Hi Ladies!

A few more last minute questions (ahh! almost a month away!)

I know I've seen contact information on here somewhere for hair/make-up appointments...is that the same contact as the spa? I've been to a few Palace Resorts in the past and they seemed to have differentiated between the Salon and the Spa. I think there is a $300 limit per room at the Spa....so does this count towards hair and make-up or just services like massages? What about mani's/pedis?

Any thoughts on whether or not a trial run for hair/make-up is necessary?

My FI swears that he's seen pictures of the Moon Palace (Grand Section) where they have rooms with private pool access (ground level rooms where you can just walk into the pool straight off your patio. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I'm thinking this was probably at another Palace Resort.

In a few earlier posts, brides suggested bringing your own speakers...I'm trying to decide between that and hiring a dj (a lot of our guests are older, so we are going to stick to the traditional dances and speeches, and then the younger crowd is going to head to the disco for the real dancing).  If you don't pay for anything for the reception, do you still get a tech guy? Do they still provide a microphone? I'm wondering if we tipped a tech guy (assuming they provide one) if he'd run our playlists for us. If we did bring our own system, does anyone know if the internet at the terraces (Tucan or Venado most likely) get good enough internet reception to stream something like Pandora?

Also, has anyone on here been to the MP lately? Any updates on whether or not the construction is done? Does this make the Sunrise section the "newest" now? Is that still the only section with hammocks on the patios?

Sorry for all the questions. I've read every post, so hope I haven't repeated too many things that have already been discussed. As always, THANK YOU GIRLS!!!

Hey Stef- I should be able to answer most of your questions:

1) I believe the salon/spa is the same contact.  I could find my contact person I used- I think her name was Karla.  The $300 is for anything spa related- hair, massages, mani pedi- if it's done at the salon/spa it counts towards your $300 max.  I did not do a trial run- as long as you have a picture of EXACTLY what you want front and back- they will replicate the hair even BETTER than the picture!

2) there are no rooms that enter into a private pool at the Grand section of MP- he is def thinking of another resort.

3) I rented the ipod tech and speakers from PSAV for $200- they provided the speaker, a microphone and the tech.  Totally worth it!! We just brought a laptop with clearly stated playlists and the tech played everything "dinner music", "first dance" etc.  I would not rely on the internet connection- the wifi is hit or miss- esp miss the closer you get to the beach/ocean.

4) I belive the construction is almost done in the Sunrise side- but I am not certain- another bride said that the construction for Nizuc would begin in Oct- so maybe they are still working on the sunrise side- they were when I was there in Nov.  Yes, Sunrise is the only section with hammocks- but the Grand side has a daybed/ lounger thing on the balcony.  I'm not sure if the rooms were renovated or not either, sorry!

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me!

You are going to have an amazing time!!!! I want to go back!!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
