Most recently being today, when my cousin called me bc she has been trying to book her room for over a week... She finally called the 800 number provided on the website and they told her my link was deactivated. The rooms I blocked off are blocked until sept 7, so there is plenty of time left for our guests to book. I emailed Michelle farinas in the Miami office stressing to her how frustrated this is for me and my guests and how it is deterring our guests from wanting to stay at moon palace and she is not the least bit concerned. Their customer service is terrible, it is definitely hard enough planning a destination wedding let alone having to deal with all of your guests calling bc they cannot book their rooms. Also the link on the website to book hotel transfers does not work, so now I have to email every guest their email address so they can get to and from the resort. Just wanted to give all those who did not book through a travel agent that their link maybe disfunctioning!

I had guests have issues with my link a couple of times, and I would just keep checking back and it would work again.  Michelle Farinas told me only the wedding coordinators were shutting down in Miami but the booking assistants were staying.  Maybe that changed since I talked to her about it, but she has really only been the one helpful person to me so far.

I'm having issues with the Cancun coordinator right now,  I'm hoping it's because they are in an adjustment period, because if it continues I will surely turn into a Bridezilla on their department!  smile67.gif

Soo I'm just going to take a break for a week or two to regain my sanity and then start the hotel portion of the planning process again! haha

Hi Everyone,

For now I have decided to hold off on sending traveling information brochures out one year in advance. The problem is that we are unable to get pricing on airfare this far in advance. Which I think is crazy that you can't buy airfare one year ahead of time but I have no control of that. So we are going to wait to Sept to send everything out. I am not just working on the brochure that I want to send out. I looked into vistaprint but they do not currently have any sales so if anyone knows of any other printing sites that give deals on brochures please let me know!

I got my save the dates off of ebay. Someone made me a jpeg customized with our names/dats and sent me the image for 10.00. I then went to shutterfy where I got 50 prints for free. It was a great money saver and I highly recommned it.

I am sorry to hear of all the miscommunication or lack there of ..

Hope everyone planning is going good.

Hey. When I started my booking process in January, Geraldine told me the links they used to do didnt work, so i was forced to have the guests fax a sheet with their information, or fax a sheet that asked for her to call in order to collect the information. It has been a pain but everyone has been able to book. So perhaps you can ask them to have this as an option? Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if the Tucan Terrace has direct beach access? Or if not, if it it close to it? We really wanted to be directly ON the beach for the reception, but our invite list keeps getting larger and I don't think it's worth paying the extra per person set up fees. Also, do you know if the Tucan Terrace is close to any bathrooms?

Heads up for anyone who has Fernanda, she (CROSSING FINGERS) has been very responsive and friendly!

THANK YOU!

It's not only that my guests haven't been able to book, it's that I told all of my guests in our invitations that they had to book via the link so when they go to book and it doesn't let them they then call me and want to know why they cannot book. It doesn't make the resort look very good when people can't even reserve rooms for my wedding. Then when guests email Michelle she doesn't get back to them and they call me wanting to know why she ignores their emails. The other day I sent an email out to all of my guests with Michelle's contact info and telling everyone that our link is down so hopefully that eliminates the frustration of my guests. I just feel bad for them.

The Tucan Terrace is beach front. It is very close to the beach itself with only a small 3 foot drop down to the beach from the terrace. There are plenty of photos of it over in the Pictures of Different Areas of Moon Palace thread. I took quite a few photos of it last year when we did a site visit.

Here is a photo of the Tucan Terrace (below):

1000

As you can see, the Tucan Terrace is set up for a reception in the far left of the photo.

Just a few steps away from the terrace is the stairway that gives you access to the beach.

That ceremony setup is obviously the Tucan Beach Ceremony Location.

Hope that helps :)

I am going to post a review soon, too. I wrote about 50% of it already, then my browser crashed and I lost all of it. My short review is that the wedding was great, we and our guests had a great time, and much of the staff was fantastic as well. That said, we had a few hiccups along the way (the flooding being one of them, but a small one), that bothered us (and yes, I know that MP can't control the weather, but they certainly can prevent rooms from flooding!). Some of the service was fantastic, some of the service was pretty darned bad.

I'm still catching up on this thread so I'm not sure if you posted your review already but can't wait to read it! I just want to let you know how amazing it is that you are on here. I've told my FI all about you, and I can't wait to show him your post so that he knows other guys are on here. He made a comment to me this morning about how he feels kinda clueless about this whole process because the Palace doesn't really put together a complete guide for us to look through and I told him again about you being on here and how helpful this thread is....hopefully you will all be seeing a Mr.Stefn1218 on here soon! :)

I was a little hesitant because i feel like i have no control since i am in Texas but so far  my wedding coordinator has been great. I am having a June wedding so i am pretty worried about the weather and i am debating if i should change the date :( thoughts??

I spent a LOT of time debating when to book.  We literally had three different wedding dates because I changed my mind so much....it's hard to accommodate important people's schedules, weather, capacity and price.  We have gone to different Palace Resorts twice before, once in Oct. and once in Nov.  We had perfect weather both times even though it was during "hurricane season", and the low capacity and cheaper prices were amazing.  However, during our Oct. trip there was a hurricane that hit THREE days before we got there. I was freaking out, and it was just a vacation. After that, I figured I would drive myself crazy if we didn't book during a "good weather" month.  April supposedly is tied (I forget the other month!) for being the driest month of the year. The beginning of April is high travel season but the end of April (exact date changes every year around Spring Break schedules) is considered a "shoulder" season...meaning JUST missing busy season and still get good weather. I found these links to be very helpful...hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
