Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just to confirm what everyone else is saying 'do not pay Joannis.' It was 2 days after sending her a small payment that she demanded, that our credit card was fraudlently used in Miami. We have not heard from Joannis since and I have no confidence in her as a planner for our wedding. Several months ago she contacted us to say that we couldn't have our requested location for our 3pm ceremony however if we changed our wedding to 4pm then we could. We agreed to this and rebooked the photographer, horse and carriage, hairdressing appointments for 4 people. Now 13 days away from our wedding our Moon Palace planner has been in touch and the paperwork said our wedding was at 3pm. We emailed her back to say the wedding time was changed by Joannis and confirmed (paperwork to prove it) only to be told 'no' not possible for 4pm. We leave in 9 days and are staying for 14 nights, I have no confidence that I will even come back married as the level of service is shocking. Linda x

The real issue lies with the high level of incompetence displayed by every single person in the Miami offices.  They really seem to be the root of most of the confusion and chaos when it comes to planning a Palace Resorts wedding.

The wedding department on-site is great, and although thier pre-arrival communication is poor, they are thoroughly organized and know what they are doing.

My suggestion to everyone is to completely bypass dealing with the Miami office.  I have never dealt with them at all.  I booked my group room block through a TA, and had nothing to do with anyone in the Miami office.

Hi Ladies!!

We're back!!!  Well we got back on Thursday, but had so much to do with being gone for 12 days!

We had an amazing wedding and everything worked out the way it was supposed to.  The week of my wedding it rained off and on all week.  Low and behold the day of our wedding it was sooo cloudy that we decided to move our reception inside :(  I was pretty upset about it, but there really wasn't anything I could do.  Our ceremony, cocktail hour and pictures was beautiful and sunny.  During our reception some of the guys went to smoke cigars and it was raining, so inside was the way to go.  Not to mention, it gets too humid and muggy after it rains there, so inside was much more comfortable with the a/c.  The room looked amazing and it really didn't matter once I saw the room!!!  :)  Like I said, it worked out how it was supposed to.  My "husband" hee hee, was very happy to have the reception inside, he was sooo hot outside!

Everything turned out amazing and I know we all stress, but they really do know what they are doing down there.  We had nothing wrong happen.  Zaray did amazing and was very kind and patient!

We used Marvin and the flowers were amazing.

Our photographer is trying something new, so he has our wedding on his website.  It's was filmed live, so family back home could watch it while we got married.  But it's still up if you guys want to watch it...http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oomm  Hopefully that link will take you to it.  If not, go to octaviomontes.com and click on channel 1 in the upper left hand side of the screen.  They started recording 10 min before the ceremony so you should fast forward or you will just be watching our guests hang out!  :)

I hope you all are doing great.  I will try to get my review up as soon as I can.  But I wanted some pix first.  Either way I will let you know when it's up!!!

Miss you all and I hope all your wedding planning is going great!  Please feel free to ask my anything!!!  I know how stressful it is!

We won't get pro pics for awhile but Gonzalo was fabulous and I'll share as soon as I get them! Kudos too to the wonderful Sara Tamargo. I will write reviews as soon as possible.

Mrsbruff2b, Duckiedoo,Lurkerdan - They cannot force you to pay in advance.  Just make sure that you communicate that you want everything charged to your room.

Linda1972 - I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you too.  Unfortunately, that happened to us too and they did nothing but send us some crap email saying that they've never heard of something like this happening before, it wasn't their fault and they are sorry.  It was complete BS!  I'm not satisfied with the folks in the Miami office at all.  I want to go above the weddings department and make sure that someone else knows that this is happening.

Only 12 days until we leave!  I have a ton left to do and my living and dining room look like DIY central, but it will all get done.  Next week is my last week of work.  Thank goodness I thought to take off for a few days before we leave to get last minute things done!

Happy Planning Ladies & Gent!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
