Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hey there brides and wives -- My fiance and I got engaged at the beginning of February (the Giants won a superbowl ring and I got an engagement ring. Wish they'd win every year). In any event, I haven't done much concrete planning yet, but my fiance and I are pretty much set on Moon Palace. Hence, how I found this forum. Having skimmed some of the posts though it seems response times in the Miami office leave something to be desired, so I was hoping I could direct two big questions to you ladies and see if you can give me some clarity before we take any concrete steps with Moon Palace.

First, legal marriage in Mexico: I'm not so excited about this proposition for a variety of reasons. I see some couples choose a civil ceremony before they leave the states and have a symbolic ceremony at the resort. My fiance and I are planning on a Catholic ceremony. Can anyone tell me...If we are not legally wed in Mexico, can we still have a Catholic ceremony?

Now, the second hang up: I always envisioned an outdoor reception and I know Moon Palace has some fantastic outdoor venues. But, I'm marrying in to a very large family and what I thought would be a 30-50 person affair is looking more like it could easily be a 100-120 person affair. Are there outdoor venues at Moon Palace that can accommodate such a crowd? Or would we be relegated to one of the ballrooms on property?

From what I've read so far, this is an incredibly helpful exchange of information and ideas. If we ultimately settle on MP, I look forward to joining in the fun. Congratulations to all of you!

Welcome!! You'll find that this forum (and this thread in particular) will be soo much help. The ladies here are wondeful and we all work pretty well to get answers since MP is a little lacking with communication.

I can't answer your catholic wedding question, but I was just looking over the private events location so I can help with the other question. There are definitely outdoor places for a larger crowd. The chapel garden holds 130 for cocktail hour and 100 for reception. There are other terraces that can hold up to 300 or so people too. Some terraces may charge extra per person. But it looks like larger crowds are definitely possible.

Congrats and happy planning!

FI just got his outfit this weekend! It's linen from Studio Suits. He won't be wearing a full suit.. just the pants, button-up, and a waiscoat. It came out nicely, but he thinks he looks fat with the waistcoat on.. which is funny because he's never been one to be concerned about that stuff. I keep telling him it doesn't matter and I think he looks hot as usual wink.gif Maybe if we have the waistcoat taken in a little bit since it is a little bit too big he'll feel better.

I took the picture with my iPhone and it has no flash, so sorry about the quality but it's all I have right now:

The groomsmen will be wearing the same thing, but without the waistcoat:

I still haven't packed 1 starfish of which I have so many that it is scary. I have 25 - 8"-10", 20+ 6" , 20+ 4", and 25 of small ones and another 25 of even smaller ones. I have just been buying them with no thought to what I was doing uggh. I am going to have to leave more than half home along with tons of shells and lion pawsmsncry.gif.

One week until I leave and I finally started worrying about my suitcase and my clothes lol. At least I started that today. Tomorrow is my hair trial so I am excited about that woot.gif

Any thoughts (Coco lol) on what menu. I had originally picked italian because all the reviews say it is the best but I am not crazy about it.. I think I like international and add the beef medallions. Any thoughts???

I am a nervous wreck lol just wanted to share with the only people who could possible understand stupid.gif

xoxo

Congrats!!!  And don't worry people will book eventually!  I sent out invites in November and just our families (to this day) have booked.  You will get some last minute people I bet!  That's what I am hoping for!

Hello Ladies,

Hopefully everyone had a great weekend!

Coco-Thank you for the e-mail!!!

Lee-Love the suit!

So, as it turns out, FI is starting to get kind of mad as well with the lack of communication and talk of outrageous fees!  He is not happy!! Which in turn stresses me out, as he is usually the calm one!!!

Also, I feel that like I am going to forget something major to do!  Does anyone have any suggestions of what I absolutely have to take care of before I go down there?!?!  Then at least I can compare my lists!H

Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
